WARN TRAFFIC TO AVOID SOFT, UNPAVEDROADS Spring Rains, Thaws Bring Load Restrictions on Dirt Highways. Warning to heavy traffic to avoid unpaved roads throughout the State was issued in the weekly traffic bulletin today by Director John D. Williams of the State Highway Commission. He pointed out that frost is out of the ground in most sections, but that rains have made the roads soft and load restrictions necessary in places. For the most part the roads have been graded and will continue in excellent shape with a little public cooperation, he declared. Detours and bridge run-arounds, for the Week of April 7-13 are set forth In the bulletin as follows; No. I—Good stone surface from Rd. 50 to Kd. 46. No. 3—Detour around grading three miles north of Muncie. No.I 7—One-way traffic bridges, eight and ten miles north of Madison. No. 9—-Run-around via Mt. Etna. No. 10—Three and one-half miles detour at Culver. U. S; No. 20—New fills over sink holes cast of Lagrange are soft and rutted. Detour from two miles east of Plato to Plato. Bridge run-around at Plato. Detour in Elkhart. U. S. No. 24—Detour just east of Huntington. U. S. No. 27—Detour from Fountain City to Lynn. Brldgd run-around three miles north of Richmond. Famed Surgeon Honored

In recognition of his invention of the bronchoscope, an instrument for the removal of foreign objects from the lungs,* Dr. Chevalier Jackson, noted Philadelphia specialist, has been given a newly-equipped clinic at the University of Pennsylvania. Dr. Jackson is shown here with the first patient in his new clinic, Gladys Rosenstein, 10. The bronchoscope is a metal tube about eighteen inches long with a small electric light on the tip. It is inserted in the throat, the foreign object located and removed with forceps.

Ind., April 6. Frank M. Vickery, living near here and employed at Clinton, has been missing since Saturday, when he left Clinton to spend the week end at his home. A suitcase containing some cuthes of Vickery’s has been found at a coal mine near Newport. Police at Clinton have received a report Vickery owed a S4O bill for board and lodging there.
