'ENGINEERS IN MANYNATHNS FROM^URDUE .University Revealed as World Center for Training Technicians. By Timex Special LAFAYETTE, Ind., April 6.—lnvestigations into the present activities of 1,700 alumni of the Purdue University school of civil engineering, and about as many more who have had one or two years’ instruction in the school, reveal the university as a training center for civil enigneers who are scattered over the entire world. 1 Men working in foreign fields include, among others, a graduate who is in charge of building an aqueduct to supply the city of Athens, Greece, with water; one in charge of the sanitation of Poland, and one building docks in Central America, while many Filipinos and Chinese have received civil engineering training at the university and are now directing important public works in their native countries. In the United States, Purdue civil 1 engineering graduates occupy positions of trust and authority throughout the country. One is president of the Illinois Central Railroad and other is vice president of the Gulf Coast Lines. Other Purdue men in important positions include the chief engineer of the American Bridge Company at Gary; the advisor of the United States Government in matters of flood protection on the Mississippi River, and the manager of a number of technical papers.
