OLD PASSOVER FEAST OF JEWS TO BE OBSERVED Rites in Homes, Synagogues This Week Celebrate Festival. There has been hurrying and scurrying in the Jewish homes of Indianapolis the past week. New dishes are being purchased, or else the dishes that are used for those few sacred and joyous days each year have been exhumed from the packing cases. For everything must be different —the feast of Passover, the Jewish celebration of its emancipation from Egypt will begin at sundow-n Wednesday and will continue for fourteen days. The small boy must forsake his baseball, bat and glove and polish up his Hebrew for he is given a great honor, that of asking the “Four Questions,” the answer to each being part of the history of the never-to-be forgotten flight to freedom. The celebration of Passover is ushered in with an elaborate dinner, unsurpassed in beauty of symbolism, known in Hebrew as the “Seder.” Synagogues of the city will hold brief services beginning at 5 p. m., following which the members will go to their homes to observe the “Seder.” Thursday morning services will again be held at the synagogues. Rabbi Morris Feuerlicht will have as his topic at the Indianapolis Hebrew

Growing Children sometimes require a tonic as do their elders
The physical welfare of the child is being given more attention by school authorities. Failure to keep up with class work and absence from school is probably due to a nervousness and run-down condition that may be largely attributed to, a deficiency in red blood cells.

In Britain s Naval Dispute
Pictured here are the three British naval officers involved in courtmartial proceedings following trouble aboard the battleship Royal Oak. Left to right they are Commander K. G. B. Dewar, Lieut.Com. H. M. Daniel, and Rear Admiral Bernard St. George Collard. The first two fell out with the admiral over his ideas of discipline.
Congregation Temple, “The New Freedom.” This festival ranks as one of the most significant holidays in Jewish life. The idea of freedom upon which it is founded constitutes one of the basic principles in Judaism. The feast of Passover has a twofold background. It’s origin dates back to the time when the ancestors of the Jewish people dwelt in Palestine and occupied themselves with agriculture. To them the advent of spring marked the most joyous period of the year. Then reaped, and its first fruits were brought to Jerusalem and offered at the Temple. Hence, Passover was instituted as a nature festival to celebrate the spring arrival. But with time, this agricultural background was almost entirely lost. Then came the emphasis that Passover marks the anniversary of the deliverance of the Jewish people from Egyptian bondage. Over three thousand years ago a great number of Jews dwelt in Egypt and were made slaves to the mighty Pharaohs. Their life grew bitter from day to day with heavy toil and suffering. At that time Moses was born. From his youth he championed the cause of righteousness and fought for the rule of justice. Charged with his holy ideal, he finally cowed the mighty Pharaoh into submission. And he led the Jewish people out of the gates of Egypt. , As reminiscent of this historic epic, the Jewislf people cite this event every year to their families and children. By celebrating this feast of Passover Jewry the world over raises its cry against the oppression and spiritual slavery current in many lands today. GIVE your child the right chance to develop, and you will not reget it in later years. Many children become under-nourished due to lack of appetite. Keep the appetite keen. Food nourishes the body and makes it grow. Also watch Nature’s warning for changes in the system. Skin troubles—pimples, boils and that sallow complexion—all foretell a body weakness. In such cases, S.S.S. is the proper tonic. It improves the appetite; helps Nature build rich, red blood cells—those vitalizing ele-

BILL TO BLOCK INJUNCTIONS ON LABOR FLAYED Proposed Legislation Is Denounced by Emery at Meeting. The anti-injunction bill pending in Congress was denounced byJames A. Emery, general counsel of the National Association of Manufacturers at the annual banquet of the Indianapolis branch of the National Metal Trades Association at the Columbia Club Monday night. “The bill before the Senate, introduced by Senator Shipstead, proposes a revolution,” said Emery. “For twenty years trade unions have said injunctions ought not to be issued in labor disputes even to protect fundamental rights against assault. Now they are willing to go much further and say that all these rights should never be protected in any dispute. “It is said judges abuse their powers in issuing labor disputes injunctions. But if that is true, the remedy should be impeachment and not procedure reform. “In twenty years of debate before Congress committees we are yet without proof that any judge has abused his power.” Referring to the Volstead law.

Emery said: “Congress deliberately has expanded the use of an injunction as an auxiliary to the enforcement of criminal law by declraing every place or person engaged in the violation of the prohibition act a nuisance which is enjoinable.” Former Mayor Charles W.
