COPS GET BACK PAY Police and Firemen Receive First Installment of Salary Increase. City firemen and police today received their first pay checks since they were granted a sllO a year increase as result of a Superior Court decision. The checks included $27 for each employe, representing the increase due since Jan. 1. The increases voted by the city council was cut by the State tax board. A court ruling held the State board had no authority to make the salary slash. Bite Hand That Feeds Him. 1 'new" YORK, April 2.— Three hundred jobless men were having dinner at the Salvation Army Memorial Hptel. The hat was passed around to collect foreign mission funds, and one man seized the $2.30 it contained and fled.
