TT'RANZ LEHAR’S “Gypsy Love,” with Jessica Dragonette, soprano, in the leading role, and Harold Sanford as musical director, will be presented as the Philco hour feature to be broadcast through the NBC Blue network at 8 tonight, from WJZ, New York. Tune in stations listed in Dial Twisters. "Gypiy Love” is a romantic opera in three acts, with book and lyrics by Harry B. and Robert B. Smith, from the German by A. M. Willner and Robert Bodabzy. The overture to Richard Wagner's “Rienzi” will be played by the New York Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Walter Damrosch, during the RCA hour, which will be broadcast through stations associated with the NBC Blue chain at 7 tonight. > This composition, based on Bul-wej-Lytton’s ‘Rienzi,” had its first performance in Dresden in 1842. It opens with a slow movement and trumpet calls introducing Rienzi's prayer for the people. A battle hymn closes the piece in vigorous intensity of expression. Haydn “Perpetual Motion” Moszkowski “Dance of the Sylphs” . .Berlioz Symphonic Poem, "Vitava” Smetana Stations in the chain for this broadcast are listed in Dial Twisters under WJZ, New York, at 7. A spring program will be presented in the Atwater Kent hour, Sunday night, when Jeanne Gordon, contralto of the Metropolitan Opera Company, will be assisted by the orchestra under the direction of Robert Hood Bowers, and a chorus of sixteen male voices. These Atwater Kent Singers will present as their big number “Greeting to Spring” (Blue Danube), by Johann Strauss, as arranged by Hans Lichter, in addition to two other numbers. The majority of Miss Gordon’s selections will be spring songs. The program, printed below, will be heard at 8:15 Sunday night over fNBC Red network from WEAF, New York.
