STRUT? STOMP? HERE'S CHANGE TO WIN FAME Times, Indiana Ballroom to Sponsor Novelty Dance Contest. If you swing a mean hoof or stamp" a wicked stomp, here is a chance to really strut your stuff in the national eccentric dance contest under the auspices of The Indianapolis Times, the Indiana ballroom and the Trianon ballroom at Chicago, 111. The first preliminary contest will be held Thursday evening, March 15 in the Indiana ballroom, atop the Indiana Theater. The same night the contest will start in twenty-nine other ballrooms in the United States. Such dances as the Charleston, black bottom, Lindy glide, Dixie stomp and kinkajou have swept in a wave of popularity over the country, and now the dancing masters are looking for anew dance. They reasoned the best way to get anew dance was to have Indianapolis youngsters show what they know, so there will be four preliminary contests at the Indiana ballroom to select two couples doing the most novel dances. The second contest will be held Thursday evening. March 22; third, March 29, and fourth, April 5. Each preliminary winner V-ill receive a medal. Winner to Chicago Then on April 12, the eight couples thu3 named will compete against each other, and the winner wall be sent to the Trianon ballroom in Chicago to represent Indianapolis in the national contest against twentynine other champions. The couple representing Indianapolis in addition to the two-day trip to Chicago, April 17 and 18, will be given a week’s engagement at the Circle theater and one week at the Missouri theater, St. Louis, at $l5O a week. The team might also be incorporated in a Publix unit and travel from coast to coast. ‘ The girl in the winning team also will be given a diamond solitaire and the man a SSO wrist watch through the courtesy of the H. H. Mayer & Cos., 42 W. Washington St. Prizes for Losers The second team of the preliminary contest will be awarded silver medals and a wrist watch for the girl and a cameo ring for the man, also through the courtesy of H. H. Mayer. The third team will get bronze medals and the girl a cloisson compact and the man a wrist watch. ’The other five teams will receive medals from the Indiana ballroom.
