My Best Beau and My Best Girl to Win Prizes

Essay Contest Opens, With Awards for Women and Men Victors. Every fellow has his “best girl,” and of course every woman is somebody’s “best girl.” But Mary Pickford is America's Best Girl, and she will prove it next week at the new Loew’s Palace Theater in the United Artists picture, “My Best Girl.” But while Miss Pickford is on her way to Indianapolis and while she is at the new Palace, the picture opens Saturday, The Indianapolis Times will sponsor an essay contest for men on “Why She Is My Best Girl” and a contest for woman on “Why I Am His Best Girl.” The Times will award $25 first prize to the winner of the men’s contest, and $25 to the woman winner. In addition there will be the following prizes for both men and women: Second, $10; third, fourth and fifth, $5 each, and ten pair of tickets to the new Palace Theater for the ten next best essays. That makes a total of SIOO cash awards and twenty pair of tickets, with thirty individual prizes altogether. THE RULES Men write an essay of less than fifty words on "Why She Is My Best Girl. 1using your own “best girl” as the subiect. Women write an essay of less than fifty words on "Why I Am His Best Girl,” using yourself as the subject. Address all mail to "My Best Girl Editor,” Indianapolis Times. No essays will be eligible for awards unless they are in the hands of the judges by midnight Tuesday. March C. No manuscripts will be returned. The editor of The Times reserves the right to be the final judge in the matter of awards and disputes. Checks will be mailed to winners on or before Thursday. March 8. Manuscripts should be typewritten and double spaced whenever possible. Neatness and legibility will be a factor in determining the winner.
