LAY NEW PLAN FOR SUNNYSIOE Filtration Plant to Replace New Wells Idea. Satisfied that the present water supply at Sunnyside Tuberculosis Sanatorium is sufficient in quantity, county commissioners today tentatively agreed to abandon the idea of new wells and to install a filtration plant instead as a remedy to the acute water shortage. Work of excavating for the sedimentation beds probably will be started this week. The county will do the work to save delay in awarding a contract. All patients who were sent to their homes last week because of '■a ted shortage will be back by Tuesday night, Dr. Harold S. Hatch, superintendent, said. By the use of the filtration plant and sedimentation beds, water from a second well the quality of which had been lowered by the presence of mud,’ now will be fit for use. engineers told the county commissioners. In addition to providing sufficient j daily water supply of good quality, the beds to be constructed will form ! a reserve supply for use in case of fire. This had always been a hazard due to the fact that the storage tank provided a reserve of only 15.000 gallons. This will be raised to 92,000 gallons and during the extreme shortage of last week, practically no r eserve was on hand. DUMMY ‘KILLED’ BY CAR: SPECTATORS HORRIFIED Boys Have Hi-Jinks Watching Motorists Go Around ‘Body.’ A figure reeling in front of ar. i automobile, a grinding of brakes as the driver attempts to avoid an accident, a sickening thud as the figure hits the pavement and the wheels pass over it, an excited voice telling the operator at police headquarters that a man has been killed. All these figured in a “fatal accident’* at Highland Ave. and Market St. early Saturday night. On investigating. Motor Policemen Viles and McClure found that two 10-year-old boys ha?d rigged up a dummy and were having the time of their lives watching motorists maneuver their automobiles in attempts to avoid striking the dummy. They were reprimanded by policemen. The parents promised that the boys would not repeat their act again. MAN BEATEN, ROBBED Folice Find Thug Victim Not Shot as Was Reported. Answering a report that a man had been shot at Ohio and East Sts., police found instead a man who had been beaten up and said he had been robbed. Mrs. Maude Raymond, 124 N. East St„ said she heard a shot and saw three men run from the automobile' police found parked there. The three men were found at a nearby filling station getting gasoline. The car back-fired just before it ran out of fuel, they said. Ralph Wells. 730 Dorman St., with them, said he had been beaten up and robbed, at Bird and New York Sts. Two men took S2O he said. FUGITIVE SOUGHT HERE Three Prisoners Escape From State Penal Farny. Police searched the city Sunday | night for three escaped prisoners j from the Indiana State farm at Putnamville, Ind. Assistant Superintendent Armant reported that trank Webb, 25, Negro, 750 W. North St.; James Robinson, Negro, 525 Hudson St,, and George Reynolds. 23, Kosciusko County, gained fr-cdom late Sunday. All were <’ essed in the prison uniform. AUTO HURLS BRICK E -staurant Window Shattered m Freak Accident. Michael Papas, operator of a j restaurant at 1040 Virginia Ave., | reported to police that a taxi passed Its restaurant and someone in the taxi hurled a brick thi’ough his front window Sunday afternoon.
