Monthly Meeting Tuesday drama department of the Woman’s Department Club will hold its monthly meeting Monday at 2:30 p. m. at the clubhouse. Mrs. Dora O. Funston, Chicago, will read “Mary the Third,’’ by Rachel Crothers. Mrs. Funston will be remembered for her program given before the department in October, 1926, “Wisdom Teeth,” by Rachel Field; “The Minuet,” by Lewis N. Parker; “A Night Out.” by Peple, and one act of Shakespeare's “Taming of the Shrew.” The telephone committee will call each member of the general club so they may invite guests for this program. The committee is in charge of Mrs. Edward A. Wiley, chairman, assisted by; Mesdames Bert S. Oadd Alice V. Sickler O. W. Gordon Harry W. Krause J. H. Hamlet Angela Moler John F. Patton " A social hour and refreshments will follow the program. At this meeting a member of the department will be elected to serve on the committee on nominations for the general club election in March. A discussion luncheon of the community welfare department will be given at noon Wednesday with Linn A. Tripp of the Church Federation, Solon C. Vail of the Marion County courts and J. W. Esterline on the program. The luncheon is in charge of the municipal courts committee of the department, composed of Miss R. Katherine Beeson, chairman; miss Ethel Curryer and Mesdames F. C. Bell Edward E. Files Oscar Buehler L. A. McDonald E. May Hahn K. C. Huggins Ethel Rathert C. M. Finney Mr. Tripp, social service director of the church federation, will talk on “Our Municipal Courts and the Probation Laws.” Mr. Vail, chief probation officer of the Marion County courts, will talk on his work. “The Duties of Indianapolis Citizens During the Next Two Years,” is Mr. Esterline's subject.
Anne Johnston Will Speak on Making of Book Miss Anne Johnston will speak at the general meeting of the American Association of University Women at the Hoosier Athletic Club Tuesday on “The Making of a Book.” The talk will be illustrated by manuscript, proof and other articles from the publishing house of Bobbs-Merrill where she has been editorial assistant for the past four years. Miss Johnston is the daughter of the late Harold W. Johnston who was author of “The Private Life of the Romans’’ and head of the Latin department at Indiana University for fifteen years. She was graduated from that university in 1921 and has lived in Indianapolis since. Other speakers will be Mrs. Warren K. Kanu*m and Mrs. James Butler. Miss Ocie Higgins will sing. The meeting will be a Valentine dinner at 6 p. m. Reservations must be made by Monday with Mrs. L. E. Cosand, 1841 Cross Dr.. Woodruff Place. MANUAL HIGH CLASS GIVES BENEFIT PARTY The annual benefit card party of the June, 1904, class of the Emmerich Manual Training High School was held Saturday afternoon in the Travertine Room of the Hotel Lincoln. The proceeds of the party will be applied to the class endowment fund which was established last year. Seventy-five tables were reserved for the afternoon by teachers, former students and friends of the school. A program of Dld-fashioned songs, including “Auld Lang Syne,” “School Days’’ and the I Manual school song were played by Mrs. C. Harold Larsh, organist.
