WALTER DAMROSCH, great American composer and retired director of the New York symphony orchestra, has turned radio enthusiast. But his enthusiasm is not the ordinary radio bug kind. He has before his mind's eye the picture of radio as a great educator in his favorite field—music —and he is pioneering for the realization of that dream. Schools throughout the country are preparing to have their pupils listen to the special program by Damrosch and the New York Symphony Orchestra which will be broadcast through stations associated with the National Broadcasting Company’s Blue network, Friday morning at 9, it is indicated by the letters, running into the thousands in number, which have been received by the veteran conductor in thp last few days. This is the second in the series of experimental programs designed to further appreciation of music in the public school. The third and last of this special series will be broadcast for young people in high schools and colleges Friday morning, Feb. 17. This Friday morning's program will include the following numbers: Overture—"Semlramide” Rossini Romanza from “Symphony No. 4 in D Minor’’ Schumann “Entrance of the Little Fauns” Pierne “The Flight of the Bumble Bee” Rimsky-Korsakoff Military March” Schubert The Blue network is headed by WJZ, New York and includes WTIC, Hartford: WTAG, Worcester; tfCSH, Portland; WRC. Washington; XSD, St. Louis; WCCO, Min-neapclis-St.Paul; WOC, Davenport; WHO. Des Moines; WOW, Omaha; WDAF. Kansas City; WHAS, Louisville; WSM. Nashville; WBAL. Baltimore; WHAM. Rochester; KDKA, Pittsburgh; WLW,' Cincinnati; WJR, Detroit, and KYW, Chicago. The Parent-Teacher Association of Indiana will broadcast the following program to the schools of the State from WKBF, Indanapolis, at 3:30 Friday afternoon, while the radio sets for the Damrosch concert lecture are yet in the schools.
