RADIO has at last been called upon as an aid to missionary work in foreign lands. The first venture of this nature is that of the Rev. Clarence W. Jones, former director of Station WJBT of Chicago. Mr. Jones is on his way to South America where he will locate a site for a low-wave radio link to WJBT. This station, broadcasting only on Sunday, is known as “The Cathedral of the Air” and is operated by the Chicago Gospel Tabernacle under auspices ci. the World Wide Christian Couriers. The operators desire to establish a low-wave adjunct to this station in South America, so that its programs may be picked up and rebroadcast throughout Latin America. The seventh weekly musical program of the Atkins Silver Steel Sawsmiths, radiocast from WPBM, Indianapolis, at 10:30 tonight will consist of the following program: March—‘‘Semper Fidelis’.’ Sousa “Scenes from the Red Mill” ™ Victor Herbert Novelette— The Glow Worm” Linckev Overture—“ William Tell” Rossini Fox Trot—“My Blue Heaven”. .Donaldson Excerpts from "Sweethearts” • Victor Herbert ‘ Song, of Love” . Schubert Fox Trot—“ Barbara” Stiver Selections from “The Fortune Teller'’.. • Victor Herbert “Humoresque” Dzorak Waltz—" Charmaine” Rappee “Mighty ‘Lak’ a Rose” Nevin Selections by a male quartet, xylophone solo, and orchestral numbers will make up the program of the Maxwell House hour broadcast at 8 tonight through the NBC Blue network. “An Oriental Garden” is the name given to the program of Spring Hill Nurseries, radiocast from WLW, Cincinnati, at 7 tonight. The following numbers will be played and sung: “Jn the Shade of the Old Apple Tree” The Mikado” Gilbert-Sulllvan “Yum Turn's Song” .The Mikado) Soprano solo Poor Butterfly” Orchestra “Blossom Time” _ . composition, “Dancing Stars,” while the orchestra will be heard in “Jolly Robber,” “Darkies’ Jubilee,” Mendelssohn’s “Spring Song,” Tschaikowsky’s “Troika,” and a selection from “The Sidewalks of New York.” Compositions by Edvard Grieg, the Norwegian musical giant, will be featured by the Continentals, an NBC grand opera ensemble, in the program which will be broadcast through stations associated with the Blue network at 9 tonight.
