EX-WATSON AID COMES OUT AS HOOVERBACKER John 0. Motto, Former Manager, Attacks Rule of Hoosier G. 0. P. By United Prces WARSAW, Ind., Jan. 13.—John O. Motto, Warsaw, Republican leader and campaign manager for United States* Senator James E. Watson in the 1926 Republican primary, announced today his indorsement of Herbert Hoover for President. He declared “no one man” is big enough to rule the State’s politics in an interview that was construed as an attack on Senator Watson's leadership of the party. Motto’s statement in part follows: “The unfortunate political condition in Indiana is a matter of fact however much it may be deplored Whether this is due to selfish manipulation of the affairs of the Republican party, the rank and file of the party surely will see to it that office seekers, and those who have profited by favors extended to them by the party, are impressed with the fact that the party is greater than any one man in the party and that

Sale or no sale, you are not likely to match these clothes in quality at a price near ours —we hold no sales because the standard every day Richman price is the lowest figure at which our quality can be sold —you will appreciate the truth of this statement if you come in, after you have shopped around a bit, and see the rich woolens and fine workmanship in these smartly styled suits and overcoats —new models and new weaves in a very complete range of sizes and proportions.

the place to play football is on a regular football field. “It must not be any more the thought of any one man that he is delegated to construct the organization, select the candidates for office and in fact administer all the affairs of the party. “Indiana has no man big enough or possessing the confidence of the voters sufficiently to enable him to do this. The people are not even wanting such a man. It just seems to me that if I had been favored to any great extent by my party I would feel so everlastingly under obligations to the party I would be grateful to everybody in the party and I would want to pay the debt by serving the party and I surely would not set myself on a selferected pedestal and invite the good folks of Indiana to look me over.
Sees Boost for New “It is time for the Republicans to take the helm in hand and themselves steer the ship and just push overboard all the elements who would not conform to this plan. Indiana has an able representative in President Coolidge’s cabinet and it is my belief that if Hoover is nominated and elected he will retain Harry New in his cabinet. I am unqualifidely for Hoover and I shall be very glad to associate myself with his Indiana organization. Sees Crucial Time “The acquaintance I made during the 1926 primary when I was actively engaged in Senator Watson’s interests enabled me to secure a wide expression of sentiment and I became convinced that the time is upon us when the Republicans of

Indiana are going to administer the affairs of their party. "I am not interested in any particular candidate for Governor or for any other office, except insofar as to support the candidate who is best qualified and who best will improve th£ condition of the party. “I am, however, bitterly opposed to selfish interests seeking to rule the rank and file of the party. I never have been a candidate for office and never expect to be a candidate for office of any kind. “I serve the Republican party because I believe in its principles and I expect to continue actively in service to the party.”
