LABOR PUSHES CONGRESS DRIVE QM LEGISLATION Three Major Objectives Are Sought by Unions in Present Session. BY RAY TUCKER WASHINGTON, Jan. 10.—Organized. labor has three major objectives at the present session of Congress. They are: (1) An amendment to the Federal code limiting the power of equity courts in issuing injunctions. (3) An inquiry by a joint Congressional committee into the bituminous coal industry and strike conditions in Ohio, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. (3) Enactment of a State fund workmen's compensation law for the District of Columbia. Hearings to Start Soon Progressive Senators have obtained a pledge from administration leaders for a vote on Shipstead’s anti-injunction bill. Hearings are expected to start this month, with President William Green of the Federation of Labor personally leading the fight. The bill now is before the Judiciary Committee, which has in Senator Norris a chairman sympathetic to the measure. It is in the larger body that labor expects to encounter stubborn fighting on all these proposals. Representative Boylan of New York has introduced a resolution for a bituminous investigation, and within a few days will ask the House Interstate and Foreign Commerce for a hearing. Labor leaders and Boylan withheld their demand until Secretary Davis had concluded his negotiations with operators and miners for a settlement. Now they believe Congress ought to look into the matter. Patterned After Ohio It is doubtful if Ijiere will be much support for the Copeland-Jacobstein bill proposing an economic readjustment of the bituminous industry so as to close up high-cost mines. The workmen’s compensation law introduced by Representative Fitzgerald of Ohio is of great concern to labor. It is patterned after the Ohio law, accepted by labor as a model, and it is hoped its enactment in the District of Columbia would lead many State Legislatures to adopt it. The same bill had hard sledding in both House and Senate for years. Representative Underhill of Massachusetts has a bill providing for private insurance. Dolores Del Rio Leads Drive Seeking Benefits in Wills of Wealthy. Bit NBA Service HOLLYWOOD, Cal., Jan. 10.—At last the highly paid film celebrities have found a good and rapid way of spending their immense salary checks—after they die. Millions of dollars have been pledged by leading members of the celluloid colony to the Motion Picture Relief Fund. But the money isn’t to be paid over until the donors pass on to the next world. In other words, the movie leaders have altered their wills. Adding the Motion Picture Relief Fund as a beneficiary. Like Stage Fund The stage, for years, has provided a means for aiding improvident players of the legitimate drama. From now on, poor and hungry movie actors also will be cared for as they should. The new plan, according to Joseph Schenck, who has headed the movement, will insure ample funds for the erection of hospitals in New York and Hollywood especially for the needy of the picture colony. In addition, there will be a surplus for charity to those who really deserve it. Headed by Joe Schenck, Mary Pickford, Douglas Fairbanks, Dolores Del Rio, D. W. Griffith. Norma Talmade, Cecil B. De Milie and other big figures in the film world, the entire celluloid colony is lining up behind this movement. Producers Asked First The Motion Picture Relief Fund has been one of the closest interests of Mary Pickford and Dolores Del Rio for some months. Despite their activities before grinding cameras, both having just finished late films, they have worked hard to establish the fund. Both could often be seen visiting high executives of rival studios—with the idea oft changing their wills. These actresses were wise in one respect. They approached the pro-

HELP KIDNEYS BY DRINKING MORE WATER Take Salts to Flush Kidneys and Help Neutralize Irritating Acids. Kidney and bladder irritations often result from acidity, says a noted authority. The kidneys help filter this acid from the blood and pass it on to the bladder. Bladder weakness, most folks call it. While it is extremely annoying and sometimes very painful, this is often one of the most simple ailments to overcome. Begin drinking lots of soft water, also get about four ounces of Jad Salts from your pharmacist and take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast. Continue this for two or three days. This will help neutralize the acids in the system so they no longer are a source of irritation to the bladder and urinary organs, which then act normal again. Jad Salts is Vexpensive, and Is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and is used by thousands of folks who are subject to urinary disorders caused by acid irritation. Jad Salts causes no bad effects whatever. Here you have a pleasant, effervescent lithia-water drink which may quickly relieve your bladder Irritation.—Advertisement. WIZARD TAKES NO CREDIT FOR STEVEACTIONS Magazine Article May Be Used in Ouster Suit of Gilliom. An attempt by Hiram W. Evans, Imperial Wizard of the Ku-Klux Klan to repudiate the Klan career of D. C. Stephenson may be used by Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom as evidence in his Circuit Court suit to revoke the Klan’s charter. Evans’ effort to shake Stephenson from the Klan’s shoulders appears in an article in the January “World’s Work.” Gilliom contends the article bears out his allegation that the Klan breeds intolerance and hatred. Evans, In the article, argued that political corruption in Indiana is not the result of Klan activities, admits the Klan has lost considerable membership, but says he will wield a strong influence in the next election. The Imperial Wizard says that when Stephenson injected the Klan into politics in 1924 “we were forced to meet the issue. In the governorship race all but one of the candidates were openly hostile to the Klan: hence practically all of the Klansmen supported him. The campaign. though successful, left a vicious legacy. “Today the Klan in Indiana is recovering from this invasion of selfish if not dirty politicians and is fast becoming a militant, wholly patriotic and effective body; cohesive, well organized and freed of this vicious element.” “We do not maintain any shadow

SENATE HEARS TARIFFDEBATE Downward Revision Proposal Holds Interest. Bji United Brens WASHINGTON, Jan. 10.—Tariff reduction and a farm relief measure held the attention of the Senate today. Hundreds of Indianapolitans have learned, to their sorrow, the folly of dealing with strangers. Yet new victims appear daily. Sometimes a tempting bonus is offered for a short-time loan. An equity in a vacant lot is offered as security. Unless you are willing and able to take over the lot and continue payments, beware! The borrower frequently disappears before the loan comes due. Indianapolis newspapers, for your protection, decline such advertising when detected. “Partner wanted” advertising, while often legitimate, should be investigated with care. dark” which would destroy business confidence and harm the farmer by reducing his domestic market. Several other Senators asked McMaster to change the wording of his resolution to provide for tariff revision rather than tariff reduction. They said they considered some schedules already too low. McMaster replied his resolution was not meant to preclude increase of schedules now unduly low, but merely to declare downward revision the general Senate policy. The resolution can be little more than a gesture since any bill effecting tariff revision must originate in the House where a more secure administration majority exists. President Coolidge has announced his opposition to tariff legislation at this session of Congress. a few days ago about this remarkable new medicine, Konjola, which is now being introduced and explained to large crowds of people by The Konjola Man in person at the Hook Drug Store, Illinois & Washington Sts., Indianapolis, “For the past few years my health seemed to be getting worse all the time,” continued Mr. Finley. “The condition of my stomach was so bad that bloating spells and indigestion pains came over me just as regular as I ate. I had no desire for food and what little I managed to eat always brought on miseries of the worst kind. It seemed like a heavy weight centered in the pit of my stomach, and then a feeling like a tight rope was drawn around my waist. The pains felt like sharp knives gouged into my sides and back. “I decided to try Konjola, and at the very start, this medicine made me rest a great deal better at nights, and I noticed I had a real desire for food and everything tasted right. In a very little while the indigestion pains were entirely gone and all the other miseries disappeared. Now I don't have pains of any kind, and I can enjoy a full size meal without hardly knowing I ate a thing. I feel better in every way than I have in several \earc, I don’t think there is another medicine >n the world that could make suen a change n a #*srson like Konjola, and since I have taken this new remedy, it seems only right to indorse it to everyone.” Konjola is not a cure-all, not a pill or capsule, but a remarkable liquid compound which contains juices extracted from twenty-two of Nature's finest medicinal roots and herbs. These cleanse and invigorate the inner organs (stomach, liver, kidneys and bowels), to more healthy, normal action, thus bringing new feelings of health over the system in general in a natural and safe way.
