A PORTION of Wagner s “Lohengrin," presented by the Chicago Civic Opera Company, will be broadcast direct froorn the stage of the Auditorium Theater, Chicago. as the next in the series of Balkite Hours by stations assorted with the NBC Blue network, A 9 tonight. ■ “Lohengrin” is in three acts, and |was first produced at Weimar. Germany, on Aug. 28, 1850. Other notable performances took place in London in 1875, New’ Yoork in 1871, and later in New York in German in 1885. The action of the opera takes place in Antwerp during the tenth century. The cast will include Leone Kruse, soprano; Cyrena Van Gordon, mezzosojrano; Rene Maison, tenor; Robert' Ringling, baritone; Howard Preston, baritone, and Alexander Kipnis. basso. Henry G. Ralph Durst, who scored a distinct success playing one of the leading roles in “My Maryland"—a part which Arnold Daly created years a go—will present several musical comedy hits for various successes, through Gimbel station, WGBS. at 9:30 tonight. Durst has appeared in many famous hits, including “Merry Merry,” “The Sweetheart Shop,” “Three Showers” and “The Better 'Ole.” taking important parts in all of them. He will choose theme numbers from some of these shows and will also offer hits from current Breadway attractions as part of his program from WGBS. Prior to going on the stage, Mr. Durst sang in churches down in Dixie, and toured the South giving concert recitals. A half hour of hymns broadcast under the auspices of the Greater Hew York Federation of Churches will be heard by the listeners of WEAF tonight at 6. the hour at which the mid-week hymn sing goes on the air. The service will be participated in by “The Radio Four.” whose soloists are Dicie Howell, soprano; Mary Allen, contralto; Carlton Boxili, tenor and Arthur
