When Isaac Lemaster, 602 N. Chester Ave., went to the door Tuesday night expecting to admit answering his ad that he desired to rent his home he faced two armed men with handkerchiefs over their faces. They took $47 from his pockets and fled through a rear door. Roy R. Morgan, commercial agent, Universal Carloading & Distributing Company will speak on “Service to Others’’ at the Indianapolis Traffic Club luncheon at the Severin Thursday. Miss Kathryn Bowlley from the Metropolitan School of Music will present vocal music. Movies and a one-act play were given at the Indiana Boys’ School, Plainfield, Tuesday, as part of the Christmas program. Miss Helen Egbert and Albert Hall, both of Indianapolis, arranged the program for the school. George H. Chapman Post No. 203, G. A. R., will hold a called meeting at 512 N. Illinois St., at noon Saturday. State tax commissioners today inspected four proposed roads in Marion County for which they have been asked to authorize bond issues. They are Henry Stumph Rd. in Warren Township, Elmer Sharp Rd. in Washington Township, Leonard Hughbanks Rd., a Marion County unit project, and George W. Lynam Rd. in Perry Township. James Johnson and Robert Taylor, janitors at police headquarters, will be discharged Jan. 1, because there is no provision for their wages in the 1928 appropriation, the safety board announced today. Early decision authorizing issuance of $3,000,000 common stock of the Indiana Bell Telephone Company and its sale at par to the American Telephone <fc Telegraph Cos., is expected from John W. McCardle, public service commissioner, who conducted the hearings. The money will be used to reimburse the company for its expenditures on improvements and additions of . the last three years. RULES ON CITY’S BONDS Gilliom Explains Approval Needed for Improvements. Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom today issued an opinion that civil cities operating electric light plants as public utilities and desiring to issue bonds to improve the plants must procure the approval of the public service commission before that of the State tax board. This opinion was issued in response to a letter from John J. Brown, chairman of the tax board. ASKS LOAN FOR CITY .entraller Needs 5600,000 to Meet Early 1928 Pay Rolls. City Controller Sterling R.
