DEMOCRATS TO PRESS SENATE TAXCUT FIGHT House Members, Jubilant Over Victory, Begin ‘Missionary’ Work. Bn United Prett WASHINGTON, Dec. 16.—Exuberant over their tax victories, House Democratic leaders today planned some ‘'missionary’* work among their Senate colleagues, to hold the additional reductions they forced through in the House which raised the bill’s total from $233,000,000 to $290,006,000. Similarly, Republican House leaders will seek to stiffen resistance of their Senate colleagues. They also look for aid from President Coolidge, wh<S sent word to the House just before the bill was passed last night that further cuts might cause him to veto the measure. As it passed the House by vote of 366 to 24, the tax bill held the following features: Repeal of the 3 per cent automobile tax. Reduction of the tax on corporations with incomes under $15,000 andn a reduction from 13 Ms to 11% per cent on other corporations. Under $15,000 the rates are: Five per cent up to $7,000, 7 per cent to $12,000 and 9 per cent to $15,000. The exemption is $3,000. Increase of theater tax exemption from 75 cents to sl. Decrease from 10 to 5 per cent of the tax on club dues. Repeal of the tax on cereal beverages. Repeal of the stamp tax on sale of produce exchange.
