THWARTS MOVE BY COUNCILMEN TO OUSTSLACK Members Advised Adversely by Assistant City Attorney. Assistant City Attorney Don Roberts today admitted "some councilmen” sought advice from him as to whether they could “unseat” IVfayor L. Ert Slack at the Monday night meeting. . Slack was elected two weeks ago to succeed Mayor Pro Tern. Claude E. Negley. who was* named after council declared a vacancy in the office of mayor. Roberts advised three council leaders that Slack was legally elected in his opinion, it was understood. Opinion Is Asked It was reported Councilman Walter Dorsett called Roberts to the caucus chamber Monday night and asked his opinion. Boynton J. Moore and O. Ray Albertson were alleged to be willing to vote with Dorsett if they “could get two others.” 1 It was reported Council President Negley and Austin H. Todd, who did not vote for Slack, were asked to , join the faction desiring to rescind the council's action. Dorsett and Otis Bartholomew, Republican majority faction members, voted with Edward B. Raub, Robert E. Springsteen and Millard W. Ferguson to elect Slack. Adjournment Approved It was said Bartholomew refused to vote with Dorsett, Moore and Albertson. Roberts told the councilmen they could reconsider the action providing a written notice was filed by a member who voted with the majority before the meeting. This was not done, he said. There was doubt as to whether the special meeting was adjourned. The minutes of the council show the special meeting was adjourned by a minority, permissible under council rules. Even though the special session at which Slack was elected was not adjourned officially a meeting cannot go on Indefinitely and in two weeks automatically adjourn itself, Roberts was said to have advised the councilmen. The councilmen vigorously denied they had considered such a plan. “I want to support and not knock Slack,” Dorsett and Moore said. VETERAN OF CIVIL WAR, NATIVE HOOSIER DIES Funeral for Mason W. IF KIDHEYS ACT BAD TAKE SALTS Says Backache Often Means You Have Not Been Drinking Enough Water When you wake up with backache and dull misery in the kidney region it may mean you have been eating foods which create acids, says a authority. An excess of such acids overworks the kidneys in their effort to filter it from the blood and they become sort of paralyzed and loggy. When your kidneys get sluggish and clog you must relieve them, like you relieve your bowels, removing all the body’s urinous waste, else you have backs ache, sick headache, dizzy spells; your stomach sours, tongue is coated, and when the weather is bad you have rheumatic twinges. Either consult a good, reliable physician at once or get from your pharmacist about four ounces of Jad Salts; take a tablespoonful in a glass of water before breakfast for a few days and your kidneys may then act fine. This famous salts is made from the acid of grapes and lemon juice, combined with lithia, and has been used for years to help clean and stimulate sluggish kidneys, also to neutralize acids in the system, so they no longer irritate, thus often relieving bladder weakness. Jad Salts is inexpensive, cannot injure and makes a delightful, effervescent lithia-water drink. Drink lots of sctft water.—Advertisement. Musterole gives the relief and help that mustard plasters gave, without the plaster and without the blister. It is a clean, white ointment, made with oil of mustard. Gently rub it in. Try musterole for sore throat, bronchitis, tonsilitis, croup, stiff neck, asthma, neuralgia, headache, congestion, pleurisy, rheumatism, lumbago, paigs and aches of the back or joints, sprains, sore muscles, bruises, chilblains, frosted feet, colds of the chest (it may prevent pneumonia).
