In this county alone there are fourteen different bands of business men who leave their desks to hunt down bank robbers and other marauders. The vigilantes were re-organized several years ago by the lowa Banker’s Association. The bankers’ association pays all expenses. It furnishes ammunition for target practice. Another sources of revenue is the farmer who pays a small yearly sum as dues to the organization in order that he may be protected against chicken, horse and live stock thieves. RAIL WRECK PROBED Three Inquiries Are Under Way In Death of Fireman. Three investigations into the Pennsylvania Railroad train wreck on the elevation at Delaware and South Sts. early Thursday morning, in wheih a fireman was killed and four men injured were under way today. Coroner C. H. KJpever issued sub*poenas for an inquest. Railway officials and police are conducting other investigations. J. B. Frye, 36, of Logansport, fireman, was killed when he was crushed under the tool box of the train as it left the tracks. Arthur Talkington, 57, of Jeffersonville, engineer; Louis Guenther, 43, of Jeffersonville, engineer of the second train, and E. A. Burchiels, 43, of 5132 E. Washington St., trainmaster, are recovering at St. Vincent hospital of injuries.

ROCKY RIPPLE TO VOTE Citizens Seek to Incorporate as Separate Town. Residents of Rocky Ripple, north of Indianapolis, will vote Saturday to decide whether the territory shall be Incorporated as a separate town. Petition for the? election was granted by county commissioners, Oct. 28. There are 113 voters. The proposed town is bounded by White River, the canal and Forty-Ninth St. Child in School Shot Bu Times Special PETERSBURGH, Ind., Nov. 18.— Dora English, 9, is suffering from flesh wounds received when shot from a hunter’s gun became imbedded in her face while she was seated in the Burch school house in Patoka Township where she is a pupil. HELD IN BOOZE PLOT Guy Whetsel Turned to U. S. Jury on Muncie Charge. Guy R. Whetsel of Muncie, who surrendered to Federal agents Thursday on charges in connection with an alleged counterfeit strip stamp and liquor conspiracy, was held to the Federal grand jury under $2,000 bond by John W. Kern, United States commissioner. Whetsel is tho father of Kenneth Whetsel, held on similar charges. Liquor and liquor labels were found at the son’s home when agents raided at Muncie last Saturday. Other Muncie liquor defendants held to the grand jury by Kern, Thursday, include Ode (Happy) Danforth, former bartender; Marsh McCray, Negro; Lewis (Chief) Pettiford, Negro; Tom Johnson, Negro, and Henry Sims, Negro.
