OPEN AUTUMN BUICKDISPLAY New Models Being Shown All Over Country. The Buick autumn display has just opened in the showrooms of the Buick Motor Company, Meridian and Thirteenth Sts.; John A, Boyd Motor Company, 833-37 N. Meridian St.; Central Buick Company, 2917 Central Ave., and Thornburg-Lewis Motor Company, 1302 E. Washington St. It will continue until Saturday, Nov. 19. The display is being held simultaneously in hundreds of Buick dealer establishments throughout the country. It includes the Buick line for 1928, with its new fall and winter colors and upholsteries, and an array of specially equippepd De Luxe Buicks, shown now for the first time. “The care which has gone into preparation of Buick’s De Luxe models assures them of a warm reception from the public,” said Mr. Trotter. “They represent not only the superior performance for which Buick has always been famed, but also the last word in style, beauty and good taste.” The equipment includes wire wheels—two of them mounted in special fender wells and secured by new wheel locks—full width rear bumpers, collapsible trunk rack, and other optional items. DEMAND STILL HEAVY FOR OLD MODEL FORD Many Orders for Model T Are Received by Dealers. Despite the interest that has been aroused in the new Ford car, the famous Model T Ford is keeping a firm hold on the popular fancy, according to the reports of local Ford dealers. A large number of Ford owners, anticipating the shift to the new Ford and reluctant to give up the Model TANARUS, have placed orders for one or more of the old style cars to be set aside until they will have need for it. - This same story comes from Ford dealers all over the country, with the result that new or good used cars of the Model T variety are in constant demand everywhere. Just as certain Ford owners have placed an advance order for the first new Fords delivered in their territory, so other enthusiasts have been looking ahead by making sure of their future Model T by ordering now.

: George Souders, winner of the 1927 500-mile Speedway classic at Indianapolis, is here shown with the Buick four-door sedan he recently purchased from the Indianapolis branch. Souders drove an overhead valve Duesenberg in the race and was so impressed with its performance that he decided to purchase a Buick, which employs the same mechanical principle.

PIERCE ARROW HAS NEW LINE Moderately Priced Cars to Come Out Soon. The announcement that PierceArrow soon will introduce anew moderately priced line of cars has created a most unusual amount of interest,” said E. G. Franzen. local Pierce-Arrow distributor, whose showrooms are located at 801 N. Delaware St. Franzen has returned from a sales convention at the Pierce-Arrow factoy, where the complete line of cars was exhibited privately to distributors and dealers. Because the first reports laid emphasis on the fact that the new car is totally different in appearance from anything heretofore designed by Pierce-Arrow, a consider- i able number of people is asking j whether it will carry the famous ? Pierce-Arrow fender headlamps, said 1

Franzen, particularly because a modern crown airplane type of fender has been adopted. The answer is that while many of the new cars will show a special design of bracket headlamp, the well-known Pierce-Arrow headlamp fenders may also be had. The fender headlamp has been redesigned and modernized so as to harmonize with the completely altered appearance of the car. In addition to the rather striking change in style, many mechanical developments have been incorporated into the new car. The new Pierce-Arrow will be announced to the public within a very short time. Prices have not been revealed. A London firm of vermin destroyers last year killed more than 60.000.000 rats in British ports.

The name of the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) has gathered meaning with the years. Today it is more than just the title of a big organization. It has come to be a synonym for sendee. It has come to stand for certain definite things—for dependable quality—for fair prices and fair dealing—for courtesy and friendliness. Throughout the length and breadth of more than six hundred thousand square miles of territory this name is known and liked and depended upon. It has taken years for the name of the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) to acquire its present significance in ten great states. Good reputations are quickly shattered but slowly built. The mere rumor that a thing is bad is immediately broadcast, but it must be proved good before the news is spread. The reputation which the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) enjoys today is the achievement, of painstaking effort and uncompromising standards over a long period of years. Every employe of the 29,000 has had to go about his work with loyalty and earnestness’ and thoughtfulness for others. Every gallon of the millions sold by the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) has had to measure up to the standards it has set. Every quart of lubricating oil sold anywhere at any time in all its territory has had to “live up” to its reputation for excellence. In building the kind of reputation for dependability which this Company has attained there can be no slip-up—anywhere—anytime—even in the smallest detail. Courtesy must be unfailing . Quality must be unvarying . The present reputation of the Standard Oil Company (Indiana) is the result of yesterday’s building. Tomorrow it will be held responsible for . the deeds of today and future demands for its service will depend upon its present capacity to serve. The primary interest of this Company is the service its products give, rather than the sale of the products. . • It would not be profitable for this Company to concern itself primarily with profits—to be interested only in sales. The sales and the profits of the future will be in proportion to the satisfaction given by its products and its service in the past. The Standard Oil Company (Indiana) is not a one-generation business. Its work is too deeply rooted in human need. It has a larger perspective. Behind it stretches a past of which it is justly proud—before it a future for which it is building today a foundation of service deep, enduring and permanent.
