A “peeping Tom” who was peering into windows at the home of Fred Bischop, 1633 Barth Ave., was put to flight Thursday night when discovered. Bischop described him to police. Police held two runaway youths from an institute at Armstrong Springs, Ark., at Detention Home today. The boys, who said their names were Raymond Myers and John Huey, both 15, were taken into custody when Thomas Reilly, 2235 N Talbott Ave., became suspicious of the boys when he saw them at 135 N. Pennsylvania St. Mrs. Merle Dortch, 33, of 1207 N. West St., Negro, was arrested Thursday night, charged with failure to stop after an accident and with driving without certificate of title. Frederick Elder, 18, of 2958 Indianapolis Ave., said his car had been struck, hurling Henry Holtz, 18, of 2934 Indianapolis Ave., from the auto onto his head at Senate Ave. and St. Clair St. Dr. Leon G. Zerfas of the Eli Lilly Company will speak at the Scientech Club luncheon Monday at the Chamber of Commerce on “Pernicious Anaemia.” Miss Catherine Walters, 20, telephone operator, of 1115 Dennison Ave., was ?iven a suspended fine of $l4O by Municipal Judge Paul Rochford, when arraigned for theft of a coat from Miss Fern Steel, another telephone operator. The coat was taken from a locker at the Belmont exchange last Sunday night. A turkey-in-the straw dance will be given by the Channing Club of All Souls Unitarian Church tonight in the church parlors. Melvin Streber, 26, of 3705 Garfield Ave., was fined $25 and costs for reckless driving, and $5 and costs for failing to give hand signal, by Municipal Judge Dan V. White. Streber was arrested Nov. 3, when his automobile collided with the motorcycle of Policeman Patsy McMahon. * Officers of the new Caravan Club of Murat Temple Shriners, elected Thursday at luncheon are Frank D. Grady Hoard, 25, Negro, 1149 Vandan Ave., is in jail on a charge of vagrancy, under bond of SI,OOO, while police investigate the story of Garfield Easly, Negro, of 906 Fayette St., that Hoard stole a gold watch from a pocket of Easly’s coat at the Republic Creosoting Company, Minnesota St. and Tibbs Ave., where both are employed.

NEGRO DIES IN NOOSE Hanged for Attack on White Woman and Escort. Bu United Press '■ BALTIMORE, Md., Nov. 11.—Alfred Simms, Negro, was hanged at 12:08 a. m. today at the Maryland penitentiary. He was convicted of taking part in an attack on Miss Alberta Rice and her escort, William Buckler of Washington, D. C., near Oxon Hill, Md., Aug. 23. permission to build the structure, estimated to cost around $3,000,000, from the War Department recently, it discovered that the EvansvilleKentucky Bridge Corporation also held a permit. Meanwhile, the commission heard that a second private concern was being organized to build a bridge. The commission discovered today that a third concern is going after the $3,000,000 job when representatives of P. W. Chapman & Cos., Chicago, appeared with information that this company controls the War Department franchise which the commission thought the EvansvilleKentucky Bridge Corporation had. The. Chicago concern’s representatives then proposed to the commission -that to prevent conflict it be permitted to finance the building of the bridge as a private venture, . with title remaining with the State. The State would mortgage the bridge to the private firm for twenty years, but the plan would be for the private concern to collect a 35-cent toll on the bridge, figuring it would be reimbursed in eight years. The commission lacked a quorum and no decision was reached.

METEOR FIRES TOWN Entire Village Threatened by Flames. Bn United Press SCRANTON, Pa., Nov. 11.—A falling meteor in the little village of Fairdale, near here, today caused the destruction of a barn, granary and large store house, damaged a house and threatened to wipe out the entirte village, in the flames which resulted. "The meteor fell at 3:30 a. m. in the midst of a terrific lightning storm and landed on the property of Glen Cronk, postmaster and storekeeper, who owned the destroyed buildings. , . . . Flying pieces tore to fourteen inches in diameter in the pavement of the State road. Telephone wires were put out of commission by the storm and f°r a time, it was feared the village would be engulfed in the fire. ERUPTION IS PREDICTED Seismologist Says Vesuvius Will Overflow Next Year. B TOKIo! Nov. 8 11.—Disastrous eruption of Mount Vesuvius within a year was predicted by Professor Imamura, seismologist, on his return from a conference at Prague today. , , ... Professor Imamura declared tne eruption of the volcano will be greater than that of 1906. He declared that Japan and particularly Tokfio, will not suffer another great earthquake in the next 150 years.

TOO MANY HUSBANDS EVANSVILLE, Ind., Nov. 11.—Mrs. Helen Anstet, 30, is a prisoner here today, charged with having two husbands too many. She will be tried Saturday on a bigamy charge. Authorities declare that she wed Charles Anstet without obtaining divorces from Sylvester Phillips, Princeton, and Alonzo Withrow. She declares the thought she was divorced from both when she wed Anstet in October. COUNT DEAD MAN’S VOTE Bn United Press WATERTOWN, N. Y., Nov. 11.— A dead man’s vote was cast on election day at Natural Bridge, near here, it was disclosed today.
