(By Thomson & McKinnon) NEW YORK. Nov. 3.—Continual buying in the face of ideal weather conditions leads me to believe the private reports which are due today and Fridav will be bullish. Nobody wants to be short. Contracts are scarce. The tendency is upwarda and will remains so as long as the majority believe the crop is less than twelve and a half million bales. DRAIN FUTURES NEARLY STEADY IN QUIETTRADE Corn Regains Some Losses in Slight Rally at MidSession. Bn United Press CHICAGO, Nov. 3. —Grain futures failed to get very far away from Wednesday’s close and averaged almost steady, during a quiet session today on the Chicago Board of Trade. Wheat opened fractionally lower and the bearish trend held all day in a very narrow range. Liverpool cables were slightly lower. Caution was the keynote and traders generally were inclined to await some definite news that would indicate a course of action. Corn was very quiet all day. The opening was lower, but there was a slight rally toward mid-session that regained some of the losses. In spite of the dull session, prices were comparatively nervous and sensitive to any influence. Condit.jns were practically unchanged. Receipts here were 199 cars. Cash was unchanged. Oats were the cnly grain to show distinct strength up to mid-session. There was little selling pressure to oppose the rallies. Country offerings were light. Receipts were forty-three cars. Cash was unchanged. Provisions closed higher. Chicago Grain Table WHEAT— ~ No '- 3 ~ prev High. Low. 12:00 close. In the Stock Market
(By Thomson & McKinnon) NEW YORK, NovT 3.—lmprovement in sentitment is quite apparent in the comment this morning, having its basis not only upon the better action of the market Wednesday but upon a pickup in business that is beginnig to make itself manifest. The summer weather that extended through October, while it helps crops, naturally had the effect of retarding the sale of- seasonal merchandise which, however, will accelerate from now on. That stock liquidation is over for the present was indicated by the refusal of steel to decline any further notwithstanding the unfavorable trade reviews issued Wednesday. It is worth noting that, contrary to expectations, Bradstreet’s commodity price index for November first shows a stantial gain for the month. I feel that both the business and market outlooks are shaping themselves for lecovery.

Average Stock Prices
Average of twenty Industrials Wednesday was 184.61. up 2.96. Average of twenty rails was 135.24. up 1.02. Average of forty bonds was 98.71, unchanged. Bit United Press NEW YORK. Nov. 3.—Firm prices prevailed on the stock market at the opening today with trading taking on more activitity in early dealings. Pivotal shares carried further the rally in progress at the close Wednesday, both General Motors and United States Steel opened at a range with substantial gains. Oil shares were again in demand, due to further reduction of output in the Seminole field reported today. Texas and Pacific Land Trust was active and higher, and other issues of the oil group moved up in buying demand. Rossia Insurance soared nearly five points, American Sugar gained a point, Mack 1%; American Smelting I*4, and Brooklyn Union Gas 5*4. All other utilities were in demand in fractionally higher. C. & O. Leads Rails Railroad issues were up fractionally with C. & O. the leader, rising a point. Motor shares also gained. A few losses were noted in several of the best gainers Wednesday. Radio slip down slightly, and American Tobacco B lost a point. Bears were nervous over the extent of the recovery in Wednesday’s late trading and urgent short covering in early dealings caused further gains in active stocks. Hupp Motor was a feature of outstanding strength, due to pool operations under the management of W. C. Durant, who cleaned up all stocks between 20 and 22 in Wednesday’s session. Aggressive at Noon Rallying tendencies in the industrial leaders gained greater aggressiveness around noon with Steel common. General Motors, General Electric and American Can in the lead. Recent indications are that the short interest in these stocks had reached extensive proportions were born out by the size of the covering movement which showed increasing urgency as the recovery progressed.
