ELEVEN ADDED INSTRUCTORS AT STATENORMAL Changes Include Training School Staff at Terre Haute. Bn United Press TERRE HAUTE. Ind., Oct. 28. Eleven new teachers have joined the stall of the Indiana State Normal here. Os this number six were added to the training school. John W. Jones, director of research, anew field of work at the Normal, comes from Indiana university where he directed researclj. George F. Leonard of the commerce department comes from Crawfordsville. He has B. S. from Central Normal College and has had twenty-seven years of experience. Raymond J. Reece, assistant professor of history is from Evansville, where he headed the history department of Central high school. Dr. Raymond Shannon, associate professor of education, comes from Indiana University. He is a former Terre Haute boy, is a graduate of Garfeld high school here. On Stagg’s Eleven Howard Byrne, assistant professor of education, is from the Normal Training school where he served as principal. He will also have charge of physical education for the training school. Wally Marks, assastant professor of physical education, is from Chicago University, where he was a star half back on Alonzo Stagg’s eleven. James Goodman, assistant professor of physical education, comes from Linton. He played football for Indiana a few years ago and since then has made it a habit of turning out Wabash Valley champions in High School. Frances R. Dearborn, professor of primary education, was •onnected with the University of California. Ruby East, acting assistant professor of physical education in the place of Miss Donaldine Grdss, who is studying in the University of California, is a University of Wisconsin M. A. 6 New Training Instructors Pearl Hoppes, instructor in home economics and director of practice house is anew addition to the mal faculty. Ruth Shirley, teacher of French in Normal Training School, was on the college staff in the summer terms. Several new names appear this year on the faculty of the Normal Training School besides that of Prof. E. E. Ramsey, new principal. Miss Emma Trieber, Bowling Green, is now in charge of the second'and third grades. Miss Doyne Koonce, the former teacher of history in the high school, has gone to Los Cruces, N. M., where she is Dean of women at the State Teachers’ College of Agriculture. Her work has been taken over by Miss Meribah Clark from Peabody College, Tennessee. Mrs. Cecil T. LaFollette, a recent graduate of the Normal school is the ne wteacher of domestic science. She is filling thfe position formerly held by Miss Harriet Joslin who has retired. Gymnasium work is 'under the supervision of Miss Mary Fread, a graduate of the Normal school. She is taking the place of Mrs. Mary Hamilton Craig, who served the last three years. ADMIT ARSON CHARGE Two Confess Setting Fire to House Near Aliceville. Two more confessions were added to the long list procured by the arson division of the State fire marshal’s office. Thursday Deputy George Coogan wired Albert Fowler, division head, that two men had confessed to setting fire to a house near Aliceville, Knox County, and are now in Jail at Vincennes. They were Hqpry H. Harper, occupant of the house, and John Styles, owner.

William Manion, employed at a ouarry sofith of here, was married at Bedford in January of this year to the woman known as Mrs. Catherine Cassler, who is under death sentence at Chicago for murder, it has just been learned here. According to Manion, at the time of the marriage the woman gave her name as Mae Gritten. He says that after the ceremony the woman told him she already was the wife of another. Reports that he ifrould seek a divorce prior to the woman’s execution were denied by Manion. He considers he was never legally married, and for that reason sees no need for asking a divorcg. JILTED AT ALTAR, SO HE WEDS BRIDESMAID Girl Who Was to Play Minor Part Readily Accepts Leading Role. Bu NEA Service DENVER, Oct. 28.—Everything was all set for the wedding of William Jackson, who plays in a theater orchestra, and pretty Miss Irene Swim, member of the troupe at the theater. But at the last minute Irene said: “I’m sorry Bill, but I can’t marry you. I’m going home.” “Let’s have a wedding of some kind, anyway,” suggested the leading lady. Bill agreed, and although he had just returned from the marriage license bureau, he raced back again and got a license to marry Alice Clifford, 19, another member of the troupe. ) Alice was to have been the bridesmaid under the original agreement, but she readily consented to take the leading role.
