WIDOW HIT BY , NEW FINDINGS IN DEATH CASE ) ' Time Element Is Reported to Be Big Factor in Jersey Murder Action* By Timet Special MAYS LANDING, N. J. ( Oct. 25. An effort to make the exact hour at which Dr. William Lillendahl died count against his widow, Mrs. Margaret Lilliendahl, and Willis H. Beach, who are charged with the murder, will be made by the State, it was learned today. The physician was shot on a seldom-used highway near Hammonton, N. J., on Sept. 15. According to detectives who made statements during the long investigation that culminated with the indictment, Dr. Lilliendahl died some time between noon and 1 o’clock, when Mrs. Lilliendahl burst from the tangled shrubbery behind which the crime was committed with her story of an attack by two negroes. The time of death has now been fixed at about 11:20 a. m. This time fits into elements in the prosecution’s case. In the first place it lends corroboration to the stories of three witnesses who told of having seen a man who looked like Beach drive a blue coupe, similar to the.poultryman’s machine, away from the scene at 11:30 a. m. In the second place It attacks Beache’s alibi that a4 noon he was eating luncheon in his home, five _ miles away. The new time hits at Mrs. Lilliendahl, since it has her remaining silent at the scene for an hour or more. No More Hunting Bu Times Svecial MARION, Ind., Oct. 26.—A. B. Comer, Grant county farmer, will issue no more permits for hunting on his farm, because two men who asked permission to hunt rabbits shot pet squirrels in a grove on the farm.

BOOTLEG WARS HIT CLEVELAND Two Dual Murders Start Police Clean-up. Bit United Press CLEVELAND, Oct. 26.—Warring factions of Cleveland bootleggers, whose actiyities during the past month have cost the lives of five men, are objects of a police campaign which may not be ended until every known bootlegger In the city is placed under arrest. Safety Director Barry, who is conducting the search into Cleveland’s underworld, has announced his intention of ending the bootleg strife. As an aid to rid the city of bootleggers, hi-jackers, and other undesirables, apartment house owners in “Little Hollywood," the residential district that compares somewhat with Greenwich Village in New York, have agreed to force out some of their present tenants and hold the apartments vacant until the stigma attached to the district has been forgotten. More desirable tenants, they believe, will move in after the district has been cleared of the bootleggers and gunmen. “These killings must not go on,” Barry said, “Cleveland has had too many unsolved murders during the past eight months and it must be stopped.”

SUPPORTS CIVIL SERVIGEOUSTER Move Called Not Politics by Board Members. Denial that wholesale shake-ups will follow abolition of civil service regulations by the Duvall cabinet was made by safety board members today. “It is not fair to this board to brand the move as political,” said a statement signed by President Fred W. Connell, Ira Haymaker and Robert Miller. “We resent the insinuation of A. J. Allen, former fire civil service chairman, that civil service was dropped because of politics. “We realize the importance of the fire and police departments maintaining a high standard, and are determined to see that the morale is upheld. We have explicit confidence in the ability of Fire Chief Jesse A. Hutsell and Police Chief Claude M. Worley to handle the departments FWE FOR CHUREN!
