Fistic Card Filled for Next Show at Local Armory

List of Prelims Announced by Captain Clark, Legion Matchmaker. ROSS TO BOX PURVIS Uhlan and Nashert in Main Go Event. The card of five fights for next Tuesday night’s Legion boxing show at the Armory was completed today by Captain Clark, the matchmaker, as follows: Ten Bounds—Red Uhlan, San Francisco, vs. Charley Nashert. Jersey City, N. J.; 160 pounds. Eight Rounds—Tony Ross, Pittsburgh, vs. Jackie Purvis, Kokomo; 140 pounds. Six Rounds—Royal Cox. Indianapolis. VS. Jimmy Harris, Cincinnati; 126 pounds. Six Rounds —Tracy Cox, Indianapolis, vs. Chuck Templeton, Sullivan; 116 pounds. Four Rounds—Two-Bits Walters, Terre Haute, vs. Chet Smallwood, Sullivan; 130 pounds. > The eight-round scramble between Tony Ross and Jackie Purvis is likely to please many fans, both boys having strong followings here. Tony broke his right hand during his last fight at the Armory and has been laying off while the injured member healed. The hand is now reported to be as good as ever. Two of the most capable members of the fighting Cox family have been given places on Tuesday s card. Royal takes on Jimmy Harris, a highly touted Queen City featherweight, while Tracy clashes with the well-known Chuck Templeton of Sullivan. A pair of junior lightweights— Two-Bits Walters of Terre Haute and Chet Smallwood of Sullivan—are down for the opening number.

Three Local H.S. Elevens Perform on Home Grids Three local high school football elevens were to perform on home gridirons today, while another was to see action out of town. Cathedral, Manual and Technical were to face stern opponents while Washington was playing at Noblesville. Manual completed a week of hard training Thursday and today was to tangle with the snappy Bloomington crew at Irwin field. Tech was to be at the Arsenal field playing the Muncie Bearcats. Cathedral was booked to meet Sheridan at Washington Park. All of the local squads are in good condition and expected to turn in victories. 1928 ARMY-NAVY FRAY) PHILADELPHIA, Oct. 21.—This city will see the 1928 Army-Navy football game, John Arthur Brown of the University of Pennsylvania Athletic Association announced. The traditional clash will be held at Franklin field, which will have 8 seating capacity of 120,000. Zach Wheat, who was released recently by the Athletics, played in the major leagues since 1910.
