WARNS MINISTRY NOT ‘SOFT SNAP’ AS'JOB Pastor Works Harder Than Most Other Men, Students Told. NEW HAVEN, Conn., Oct. 7. “The young man who enters the Christian ministry and tries to follow the line of least resistance is as much out of place as some dear old lady would be in a football game,” said Dean Charles R. Brown of the Yale Divinity School at the opening exercises of that department of the university. “The man who thinks of the ministry as a pious, respectable but withal rather an easy* job had best stop, look and listen,” Dean Brown continued. “Asa city pastor for many years'l would say without a moment’s hesitation, and stand ready to defend my claim against all comers, that comparing averages with averages and exceptions with exceptions the faithful, efficient minister in charge of a church works harder than any other man in the community.” NATIONAL PARK PLAN IN VIRGINIA BACKED New Yorker Urges Setting Aside Blue Ridge Region. HARRISBURG, Va., Oct. 7.—A plea to Virginia not to let $6,000,000, the purchase price of the proposed Shenandoah National Park area, stand in the way of acquiring the site was made by Dr. Frank Bohn of New York to business men and women of the Shenandoah Valley. Dr. Bohn predicted that the Southern Appalachian Mountain region from Harper’s Ferry to Muscle Shoals was destined to be “one rumbling highway of industrialism,” and declared the creation of the Blue Ridge Mountains as a recreational ground to give to industrial workers an opportunity to breathe the sweet air of the country would be a factor in the development. This fowl was affected by sunstroke last year and ever since has been laying two eggs at a time four times a week. On two occasions she has actually laid three eggs. A short time ago the other hens in the roost became jealous of her prolific work and began attacking her.
