STATE K. OF P. CONCLAVE OPEN HEREJCT, 3 Indiana Grand Lodge Will Mold Annual Five-Day Session in City. Fifty-ninth annual convention of the Indiana Grand Lodge of the Knights of Pythias and the Grand Temple Pythian Sisters will convene here Tuesday for a five-day session. The convention will be featured by banquets, exhibition drills, initiation, elections and a general program of entertainment. Before the opening of the convention proper, the Grand Lolge will celeorate with the Grand Chancellor banquet Monday at 6 p. m. in the Lincoln. Dolph E. Farr, new grand chancellor, and Louis B. Elmore, present grand chancellor, will be honored. Farr will be installed in office Wednesday. The annual Grand Lodge ceremonial of the Shambah Temple No. 139, of the Dramatic Order Knights of Khorassan, “The Dokeys,” will follow the banquet in Castle hall, 230 E. Ohio St. Candidates from South Bend, La Porte and Elkhart will be initiated as a preliminary to the installation of anew temple at BCuth Bond. Rttiallstlc Awards Probably most interesting event Tuesdt. L the three-cornered elimination contest in ritualistic work in the rank of knight to determine the State champion team. Stones Crossing, Worthington and Brookston will compete at 7 p. m. in Castle hall. The three teams were almost evenly tied in the sectional contests, Stones Crossing leading the other two by only onefifth of a point. Judges will be the outstanding ritualists from other grand domains. The convention proper opens Tuesday at 10 a. m., with organization, admittance of new members and other business. Business will be halted at 11 a. m. while members pay tribute to the 902 brothers who have died in the last year. Officers to Be Chosen Election of officers will be held at 2 p. m. There are three candidates for the office of grand outer guard, two for grand trustees and five for supreme representatives. Candidates for supreme representative: Charles L. Pullin, Paul Revere lodge No. 374, Terre Haute; Nathan J. Lane, Liberty lodge No. 114, Liberty; Dore B. Erwin, Kekionga lodge No. 65, Decatur; William A. Morris, Shield lodge No. 71, Frankfort, and Dr. F. 'A. Priest, Grand lodge No. 103. Marion. W. W. Crooker, Hope lodge No. 13, Jeffersonville, and Dr. E. 8. Denbo, Orange lodge No. 215, Orleans, are candidates for election to the three-year term as trustee. Dr. C. V. Dunbar, Nineteenth Century lodge No. 470, Indianapolis, and Harry G. Sullivan, Vevay lodge No. 149, Vevay, are candidates for the office of grand outer guard. The complete code for operation of the Pythian Home will come before the delegates Wednesday. The meeting will close with installation of officers. Brigade meeting of the uniform rank will be held in the Grand Lodge auditorium Monday, Brigadier General William B. Gray, presiding. Grand Temple Pythian Sisters will open their session Thursday, with Grand Chief Edna I. May, Hope, Ind., presiding. Their convention will close Friday with installation of officers. A., Officers to Meet Saturday Night. Officers of Marion Camp, No, 3558, Modern Woodmen of America, will hold a special meeting at 8 p. m. Saturday at 322 E. New York St„ to plan winter activities. The meeting is open to all members of the Marion Camp who might be interested or able to offer suggestions. Officers of the lodge promise the 1,944 members that there will be some unique and interesting feature.*: incorporated in the program. The bowl party which was to have been given by Riverside Camp, No. 6443, Tuesday night has been postponed Indefinitely, according to M. T. Wright of the Woodmen.

All five of the candidates In the field hold the rank of past grand chancellor. Dr. Frank A. Priest. .Marlon, was grand chancellor in 1916 and 1917; Judge Charles L. Pulliam, Terre Haute, 1918 and 1919; Dore B. Erwin, Decatur, 1924 and 1925; Nathan J. Lane, Darlington. 1925 and 1926; and William A. Morris, Frankfort, served as grand master of Exchequer for twenty-nine years from 1894 to 1923.
DRAMATIC CLUB IS FORMED BY BEN-HUR Miss Myrtle Swing Is Elected Head of Group. Miss Myrtle Swing was . elected president of the Dramatic Club of the Arrius Court No. 5. Tribe of BenHur, Wednesday night. The dramatic group was just recently organized, and the first regular meeting will be held Oct. 7. at the home of Miss Henrietta Bernloher, 5122 Ralston Ave. Other meetings will be held on alternate Friday evenings at the tyimes of the twenty-six members. Ben-Hur members, wishing to gain admisison to the club should call the local chief, Miss Lbuise Mills, 3242 College Ave. An open meeting of Ben-Hur will be held Monday with dancing and other entertainment on the program. Initiation will be held the following meeting night. TRI-COUNTY REDMEN MEETING HERE FRIDAY More Than 200 Delegates Are Expected to Attend. Improved Order of Red Men will hold a tri-county meeting Saturday at 8 p. m. in the Wewoka Tribe No. 255 hall, New York and Denney Sts. Marion, Hendricks and Morgan counties arc expected to send more than 200 representatives to the meeting. Sannap Tribe No. 331, Morgantown, Ind., will confer the first degere on a class of candidates. District Deputy William Seigle and Great Senior Sagamore Albert Hausman are to be in charge of the gathering. HOME-COMING TONIGHT Hoosier Capitol Tent Members Meet for Fall Plans. Hoosier Capitol Tent No. 20, and Indiana Hive No. 206, Knights and Ladies of the Maccabees, will have a roll call and home-coming tonight at their hall, 322 E. New York St. The fall program of entertainment and business will be submitted to the lodge by committees. The social calendar for October will be revamped. The Halloween dance and party is one of the features of next month’s program. David A. Eland, commander of the tent, will preside, and Mrs, E. H. CONFER MASTER DEGREE Arch Masons to Give Higher Work to Four Candidates. Keystone Chapter No. 6, Royal Arch Masons, conferred the most excellent master degree on four candidates Tuesday, in Masonic Temple. Zink, secretary-treas-urer of the Indiana division of the Travelers’ Protective Association, has been named to supervise the State membership drive in honor of the national T. P. A. president, J. E McKeown, St. Louis. Rally squads will be ordered into the field Saturday by Zink. Questionnaires have been sent to manufacturers, jobbers and wholesale merchants in the stage, and the workers will be supplied with eligibility lists. “Secretary Zink’s plans for the campaign are the most constructive we have ever had.” said Royal E. Morgan County lodges of the Imjroved Order of Red Men Will hold a county meeting here Oct. 8, to confer degree work on a class of candidates. Other interesting features are planned as part of the program. Representatives from lodges in Mooresvllle, Morgantown, Brooklyn and Martinsivlle will attend. Earl Brewer, Harry F. Tincher and Frank Lipscomb are active in arrangements for the meeting.

MATERNITIES . BODY MEETS ' ON THURSDAY New Problems Facing Central Organization Gathering. Several important questions vital to the life of the organization will be brought before the Associated Fraternities of Marion County at a meeting Thursday night in the Modern Woodmen of America hall, 32a E. New York St. E. H. Palmer, president, will preside. The society is a comparatively young organization, and its policing and functions are as yet in an embryonic state. It is to be decided whether they will meet monthly or to recess until the time of the annual parade and celebration. Act As Clearing Station If the society meets each month it will act as a clearing station for all matters of general Interest and business. The twenty-five lodges now in the association are about evenly divided on the questions, but many of them are strongly In favor j of using the Associated Fraternities v as a central organization. The ies will be brought together fre-B quently, .stimulating interest andm activity in the fraternal system. An increase in the activity of the association will mean that a constitution and by laws will be presented. It is planned to invite all orders of a fraternal nature composed of white persons to become affiliated. Promote Membership This would increase membership to more than 200,000 with the purpose of promoting good fellowship on a fraternal, non-sectarian and non-political basis. The slogan would be “The Brotherhood of Man and the Fatherhood of God.” Delegates to the Indiana Fraternal Congress to be held here in October will be elected at the Thursday night meeting. Maywood Lodge to Meet Community Council No. 47 of ’ Maywood, Daughters of America, will meet tonight in Maywood hall, according ,o Miss Hazel Stiver, chairman of the publicity commitee.
