SEEK KENTUCKY I NATIONAL PARK i Funds Being Raised to Buy | Mammoth Cave Area. •I&'j Times Special LOUISVILLE, Ky., Sept. 28.—The Jjeople of Kentucky are about to undertake a project which, its sponsors believe, will immeasurably fcenrit the State and surrounding territory by bringing millions of touri.ts ea<h year into the very hea-- of Kentucky. Tne plan is to make the MamSnoth Cave a national park. For its consummation,. $2,0t10,000 must be raised by public contribution. This fund will be used to purchase 72,000 acres of beautiful woodlands and natural ing . ,the world-famous Mammoth cave and twenty-five or more adjoining caverns. When purchased those lands will be turned over to the United States government, which will maintain and develop them perpetually as a Rational park. S f ate headquarters have been topened in the Martin Brown Bldg., Louisville, by the Mammoth Cave (National Park Association. Adrian Wychgel has been selected to direct the campaign, with J. Taylor Hughes as associate director. Mammoth Cave National Park T.ill form part of a great system of national parks being established in the East. Besides the Kentucky park this chain will include the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, and the Smoky Mountains National Park along the border of Tennessee and North Carolina. Both latter communities have raised the funds necessary to buy their respective park regions.

BUILDS HANGARS FOR AIRPLANES One of the most progressive firms of the city, L. G. Brightmire Company, 1101 N. Capitol Ave., has caught the spirit of the times in the development of aviation, and has started the making of airplane hangars. These Jaangars, which are of the portable type, are being made at the company’s plant, 1225 Beecher St. The hanagrs are made in sections, conveniently designed to ship to any part of the country. The, largest section is only twenty-feet long. From practically every section of the country have come inquiries regarding the hangars. The firm maintains a garage building department. - The company has also been busy in building oil and gas service stations. The firm recently completed anew station for the Western Oil Refining Company at Alton and W. Washington Sts.

Frank West, 50, is on trial in Knox circuit court today on a charge of assault and battery with Intent to kill, growing out of an attack a few months ago upon Frank Miller, city street commissioner. Miller was struck over the head with a ball bat while arguing with West over cutting some weeds. The injured man was a patient in Good Samaritan Hospital several weeks following the attack.
