This opera will be presented at 8 by the National Grand Opera Ensemble through the Red network of the N. B. C. The opera, “Rigoletto,” in three acts, was founded on Victor Hugo’s play, “Le Roi S’Amuse” (“The King Amuses Himself.”) It was first produced in Venice in 1 851 and in New York in 1857. The late Enrico Caruso made his Metropolitan debut in this opera in 1913 and Galli-Curci made her debut in the same work in 1916. The scene is laid in Montau and the time is the sixteenth century. The principal roles will be sung by Benia Zielinski, soprano; Devora Nadwomey, contralto; Giuseppe di Benedetto, tenor; Ivan Ivantzoff, baritone, and Nino Ruisi, basso.
