On that basis almost three years will be required to grant the applications already on file. Immigration officials said today they have no explanation for the rapid growth in German applications. Reports fro United States immigration officers abroad, now being received, indicate approximately 1,700,000 people are seeking admittance to the United States. This total is approximately 200,000 greater than six months ago and more than ten times the immigration quota total for the year, 164,567.
