FIGHT PLANNED ON SNAKEROOT Poisonous Weed Threatens Stock of County. County and State agricultural ' agefits today planned extermination of white snakeroot, which la making its appearance in Indiana. Snakeroot grows in pastures and meadows. It is poisonous to cattle and horses, producing a disease know* as trembles or milk Sickness. The weed also is dangerous to persons drinking milk from a cow th£t has eaten it. T.arence Henry, county agricultural agent, said three horses have died of the disease in Marlon County within a month. Authorities will use a chemical jsolutlon of sodium arsenate of calcium chloride, which will kill all Vegetation in the surrounding area |to stamp out the weed. The area along Eagle Creek is thickly grown with the weed, Henry Bald. Snakeroot may be recognized by roots, fibrous and matted, growing on the ground surface; leaves opposite, thin and under surface with a slight luster, as compared with the upper surface; each leaf has three stems, conspicuous on the under side; flower clusters are white and the plant stands two to four feet high. Washington. The city health board placed Dr. Morgan in charge of the work Monday night, Dr. E. E. Padgett, board president, announced. Miss Burton for several years was chief nurse at city dispensary. For two years she has b£en a nurse in the children’s division. The division directs twelve baby clinics, four pre-natal clinics and thirty-four dental clinics.
