THREE-COUNTY PARK PROJECT NEARREALITY Commissioners at Hymera Today Settling Final Details. By Timet Special HYMERA, Ind., Sept. 14.—Final details of the 1,000-acre trl-county park project are. being worked out here today at a joint meeting of Greene, Sullivan and Clay County commissioners with legal advisors. The plan for purchase of the ground has already been accepted by the commissioners of the three counties and the only official act remaining for them is the formality of transfer of each county’s* quota of the park area. Completion of the park will give Indiana a recreation place with a lake that will be exceeded in size qnly by the one at Lake James park. Using an old railroad grade as a dam, it is the intention to create a 700-acre body of water in a valley in the southwest comer of Clay County extending into Sullivan and Greene for considerable distances. Izaak Walton leagues of the three counties have been active in support of the proposed park, and are assisting in purchase of the land required, the total cost of which, it is estimated, will be $55,000. With completion of the transfer, the State department of conservation will take over the site, create the lake and make other improvements. PAVING BIDS ARE ASKED L — , ! Proposals on Three Projects to Be Received Sept. 28. Bids on four miles of pavement in three projects and nineteen miles of grading will be received by the State highway department, Sept. 28. Paving includes the overhead approach on No. 20, at Baileytown and the one at Rolling Prairie; more than three miles in Marshall County west of Culver. Grading includes: thirteen miles on No. 37, one-half mile south of Needmore, Lawrence County, to Bloomington, in Monroe County; two-thirds miles on No. 131, Mexico, Miami County; one and onehalf miles on No. 57, near Newberry, Green County.

The first “date” with a person suffering from halitosis (unpleasant breath) is usually the last. Never again 1 * * * The one way to avoid such offense is to rinse the mouth with Listerine every day, and especially before meeting 6thers. Immediately, Listerine removes every trace of unpleasant odor. Don’t fool yourself that you never have halitosis. Due to modem habits, it is all too common. Write for free book of etiquette. DURHAM SIGNED, BUT TURNS HIS PAY DOWN Auditor Replies to Letter From Greencastle Senator. Since State Senator Andrew E. Durham (Dem.), Greencastle, did not feel that his conscience would permit him to take the $292 salary check, representing the $4 daily increase pay which the 1927 Legislature voted themselves, he should not have signed ii pay voucher for that amount. Such was the comment of State Auditor L v S. Bowman in reply to a letter from Durham containing the returned check. Bowman pointed out that he acted upon Attorney General Arthur L. Gilliom’s advice in withholding payment until the Supreme Court decided that it was legal. Durham had signed for the extra $4 and so he got it, Bowman said. The check will be held until the end of the fiscal year, and unless the Senator changes his mind, it will then be turned over to the State treasury. The $5 stamp is the largest denomination of postage stamps issued by the United States Government. The half-cent stamp is the lowest.

MANY GIRLS are absent from school for a few days each month because of illness. In many cases this is unnecessary because young girls —as well as older women can be strengthened by Lydia E. Pinkham’s Vegetable Compound. Girls suffering from run-down condition, sleeplessness, nervousness, and loss of appetite, should gain new strength and vigor from this Vegetable Compound. The following testimonials show what the Compound has done for other schoolgirls. _

NERVOUS AND DIZZY Charleston, Illinois:— "I gave my fifteen-year-old girl Lydia E. Pinkham’a Vegetable Compound and it did her a wonderful lot of good. She was nervous, weak and dizzy. At last she was so bad off that she was out of school for four months. The Vegetable Compound has improved her in ev;ry way and she has gone back to school. I recommend the Vegetable Compound to other mothers with girls who are not as strong as they should be. ”, Mrs. Alice Louthan, Route 2, Charleston, Illinois.
