' Sheriff Omer Hawkins today was serving upon fifty-eight men drawn Wednesday for prospective service upon the jury for the trial of Mayor John L. Duvall beginning next Monday in Criminal Court. B. —Streets in the industrial district here were filled with boiling porridge recently when fire destroyed a large milling establishment. FROM GARY TO ATHENS Indiana Student Leaves to Enter Greek University. By Times Special GARY, Ind., Sept. B.— George Chacharis, 19, graduate of Froebel High School here in 1926, is en route to Athens, Greece, to enter the University of Athens for a fouryear course in Greek as foundation for a piipfessorship in .that language in an American college. Coming to Gary in 1918, with only a smatering knowledge of English, he graduated as one of the school’s most brilliant English students. 77,771 DEAD IN A. E. F. 46,284 Bodies Have Been Returned to America. By United Press WASHINGTON, Sept. B.— A check of latest official records shows that there were 77,771 deaths in the American expeditionary force, including those on transports. Os this number, 46,284 bodies have been returned to the United States. Nearly all the remainder are buried in France.
