Wire news today carried the story of Johnny Farrell’s record-breaking tour of the second nine at the Delaware Country Club course, Muncie, where Johnny and Tommy Armour played an exhibition Thursday. Tommy and Johnny are to play at Highland here Monday in a special fjabor day treat for Indianapolis golf enthusiasts. Farrell, holder of a number of Siajor tournament titles this year, scored a 32 on the incoming nine at the Muncie course, four under par. His 40 going out gave him a total of 72, exactly par. Armour, national nd Canadian open champ, had a 74 * At Highland, Monday, they will cieet Neal Mclncyre and Freddie McDermott. The Brewer hurl- .' ing staff is in bad shape and Caldwell is expected to put it on its feet again. He has won only eleven and lost twenty games with Little Rock this season, but knows how to pitch. Gene f s Machine Nearly Wrecked By United Press UTICA, N. Y., Sept. 2.—Ge*e Tunney narrowly escaped serious injury Thursday night when a sedan bearing the champion and hfc party skidded on wet tracks just outside the city, and came to a stop, barely in time to avoid collision with an interurban trolley. The champion, together with Bill McCabe, Eddie Eagan, Billy Vidabeck and Joseph Esworth, driver of the machine, was speeding to catch the Twentieth Century for Chicago. The sixty-four-mile trip from Speculator to Utica was made in one hour and forty minutes. “Twice we skidded off the wet mountain road,” said Bill McCabe, as he boarded the train. “It w* , the most exciting ride I ever took.” While the occupant of the car were shaken up, none suffered any serious Injury aside'from nerves.

Pritchett Recreation Company, Inc., formally will open its doors to the bowlers of Indianapolis. First Polo Tilt Date Set Back By United Press NEW YORK, Sept. 2.—Because recent rains made the polo field at Meadow Brook unfit for play, the first international polo match between the United States and the British Army-in-India was postponed from Sept. 5 to Sept. 10. Postponement of the match will bring it into conflict with the Davis. Cup finals between the United States and France at Germantown, Sept. 10. The Polo association explained, however, that under thf present conditions it would be unfair, both to the challengers from India and to the American team to ask them to play Monday.
