AUTO FIRM IN NEW NOME ON N. CAPITOL AVE. Armacost-Studebaker Company Invites Public to Make Inspection. Invitatons have been Issued to the general public to inspect the new home of the Armacost-Studebaker Company, 440 N. Capitol Ave. The company has just recently moved into the new location whose most outstanding' advantage is that it is “under one roof.” More than 50,000 square feet of floor space makes the new home one of the largest and most complete agencies in the middle west. Salesrooms and general offices are included on the first floor and spacious desk facilities are provided on a mezzanine floor. A used car department, which rivals the first floor, in facilities for displaying models, occupies the entire second floor. The third floor is devoted to getting cars in shape for delivery and for general servicing work. Minor repair work will be done in the rear of the first floor. The parts department and repair shop is housed in the top floor. The building has been completely redecorated by the Armacost. Company. R. S. Armacost, company president, has been in business in Indianapolis for about two years when he took over a direct factory branch of the Studebaker Corporation here. H. B. Tait is general sales director, with Wade Cooper and H. W. Davis, assistants. W. O. Jeakle is service director and James Graham service manager. CRAWFORD IS NEW ENGINEER Chevrolet Announce Appointment of Local Man. O. E. Hunt, vice president in charge of engineering of the Chevrolet Motor Company, has announced appointment of J. M. Crawford, for thirty-one years an automotive .engineer, to the newly created position of assistant chief engineer of the Chevrolet Motor Company. Prior to joining the Chevrolet organization, Crawford was for six years chief engineer for a wellknown builder of medium-priced cars. His new position with Chevrolet, the largest manufacturer of gear shift cars in the world, is regarded in automotive circles as a distinct promotion growing out of his extensive, practical knowledge of motor car building.

Teach Drivers Bu WE A Service PHILADELPHIA, Aug. 3. The citizens’ safety committee is making this city safe from taxi drivers. A taxi college is in the making, wherein the aspiring taxi driver can learn all the tricks of hie trade, without cost. Five competent safety engineers are taking charge of the program, giving lessons every two weeks to the head drivers of taxi companies. These drivers, in turn, give lessons to the drivers on their staff.

Whippet automobiles, for the first six months of the year were $5,238,053.71, after deductions for federal income tax, according to John N Willys, president. Results of operations for the first half year are highly satisfactory, Willys reports. Sales totalling 123665 cars compare with 98,000 for the same period lasi, year and exceed any previous six months’ operations. In spite of this large incret-so in sales, merchandise inventories of $21,058,236.65 on June 30, 1927, compare with $33,556,113.26 at the same time last year, a reduction of $12,497,883.41.
