TWO MAKE OFFERS FOR ‘WHITE ELEPHANT’ Wayne County Commissioners Hope to Sell 253-Acre Farm. Bu Times Special RICHMOND, Ind., Aug. 22. Wayne county commissioners believe they will have a buyer soon for a 253-acre farm, known as Smithfield, on which the county has been losing SI,OOO a year. Originally the farm was destined for use as a tuberculosis hospital, but the project was dropped when it

was found a cost of SIBO,OOO was involved. Since then the county has rented the farm, but has lost money. Two offers to buy the “white elephant” are now before the commissioners. NEW FRATERNAL ORDER Loyal Knights of America Incorporated in State. Loyal Order of Knights of America is the latest fraternal organization to be added to the long list of such incorporations at the office of Secretary of State. Papers incorporating the Knights were filed by F. L. Felck, P. L. DeVita and W. W. Sharplers, all of Garrett, Ind. Headquarters were listed at Ft. Wayne. Purpose of the new fraternity is

Farmers living along highways near here are losing from operations of roasting ears thieves. Several well dressed persons in a large automobile stopped at the farm of G. M. Isenhower, latest victim, south of here, and went into a field where they helped themselves to “corn on the cob,” loading it into the car.
