STEADY GAIN IN AUTO EXPORTS IS PREDICTED European Survey Shows Rapid Progress in Building Highways. “With more than 70,000 American motor cars shipped in April with June exports up 28 per cent and indications of 600,000 vehicles exported in 1927 to ninety different countries, another two years should see the expected 1,000,000 American motor cars, busses and trucks going annually to overseas markets, to add to the efficiency of the people of other countries. - ’ said Alfred Reeves, general manager of the National Automobile Chamber of Commerce upon his return from seven weeks in Europe where he conducted a survey. “Now fully convinced that motor cars are no longer luxuries, but time-saving necessities, the European countries are making progress in the building of highways, readjusting taxes and the establishing of more motor truck and bus routes. No Longer Luxuries “Our centralized effort associated with the British, German, French, Italian, Austrian and Belgan makers will be to expand the markets in those countries that have bfeen slow to adopt motors sometimes because of poor highways, often excessive taxation and not infrequently because motors have been considered luxuries. “While the sale and use of cars is still heavily taxed in most of the European countries there is a disposition to reduce taxes and a general appreciation that all funds collected from motorists should be expended on highways. Installment Buying Gains “For that reason, the motor business abroad has been excellent for most of the companies. Our cars offer such power, sturdiness, modern equipment, easy riding qualities, styles and color, that they are sweeping the boards. Scandinavian countries favor American cars. to the extent of about 80 per cent of their imports. "Car buying on the installment plan is increasing.’’ NEW CHRYSLER IS OUT Announcement of Model “52” Mude By Factory. Introduction of the Chrysler “52” is announced by the Chrysler Sales Corporation.
