WHERE TO GO IN INDIANA SHOWN BY STATE MAPS Complete Data on Parks and Points of Interest Is Promised. Where to go in Indiana is described in the pamphlet maps distributed free by the State Conservation Department. These may be had by writing Room 126, Statehouse. One side of the pamphlet shows the latest official State highway map and describes road surfaces and conditions. One hundred points of interest are listed and their road facilities outlined. A brief description of the scenic and historic attractions is given. Data Given on Parks Complete data is given on all State parks, with rates and information regarding attractions. Six State parks typify every phase of Indiana, from the timber and deep canyons of southern Indiana to the beaches, lakes and sand wastes along Lake Michigan and Lake James. "State parks are the commonwealth’s show windows,” Conservation Director Richard Lieber points out. Geological field forces of the State conservation department are conducting a survey of Indiana’s famous oolitic limestone districts, with a view of determining additional fields, for the production of fine building stone. Survey Parties Busy A map is being prepared which will show the outcrop area, location of quarries, mills, railroads and other geographic and physiographic features of the region. The survey will also set forth conservation methods for waste stone. White one survey party interests itself in the stone industry, another is investigating conditions in the oil pools of Daviess County. By use of the telescopic alidade, a traverse map was made and wells located. Elevations of the wells, with reference to sea level, is being determined, after which the structural conditions will be exhibited by use of contour lines.
