TRAFFIC CLUB PLANS ANNUAL FAMLYJICNIC Committees Named to Arrange Idlewold Park Outing Saturday. The Indianapolis Traffic Club will hold its annual family picnic Saturday at Idlewold Park, near Pendleton, Ind. Edgar E. Mills, traffic manager of Fairbanks, Morse & Cos., and first vice president of the Traffic Club is chairman of this general arrangements committee, composed of Fred L. Ackerman, W. P. Basch, F. C. Baldridge, B. C. Dudley, S. C. Farrington, Lawrence N. Helm and Albert Stump. Plans Special Train W. L. Meyers, assistant general passenger and freight agent of the Union Traction Company, is chairman of the transportation committee which has arranged for a special train to leave the Traction Terminal Station at 1 p. m. to accommodate those who do not wish to He will be assisted by Gaven Wk. Stuart, division passenger and freight agent of the Union Traction. A feature of the afternoon program will be a ball game between the shippers and the carriers. Perry, twins and both in the theatrical business, are visting their parents, Mr, and Mrs. Theodore Perry, 4238 Carrollton Ave. Edgar S. Perry is house manager and treasurer of the Waldorf Theater, New York. He and his brother both formerly were connected with the B. F. Keith Theater here. Edgar Perry, in a New York newspaper story of recent date, was paid a, high tribute by a theatrical writer, quoting a noted actress as saying: “There is one man of the theater world who never has forgotten that his mother was a gentlewoman, showing this trait by the unfailing courtesy with which he treats all women.’’ He was employed for seven years by Comstock & Gest as treasurer of their New York Princess theater. Chamberlin commented laughingly .today when he a letter from the War department offering him a reserve aviation commission as second lieutenant. Regarding reports from Washington that he would not be awarded the distinguished flying cross for his flight to Germany, Chamberlin said: “What can Ido about it? I don't feel slighted.” Chamberlin is seeking an emergency passport for Englaiid, so he can embark tjiere on the Leviathan for New York, Tuesday. Illinois St., proprietor, who held two of the boys. They admitted stealing cigarets, cigars, candy, handkerchiefs and $1 ia change. The two boys said a third lad had broken the lock on the stand and police later arrested him on a warrant. The Indianapolis Sheet Metal Contractors’ Association will meet at the Denisdn at 8 tonight to discuss plans for a picnic, Homer Selch, secretary, announced. John Zahnd, Indianapolis, was re-elected chairman and other officers chosen at a meeting of the executive committee of the National Party Tuesday at 336 American Central Life Bldg. Three policemen visited the Hi Hat Club last night, disguised as well-known clubmen, but someone saw their feet and incriminating bottles began to be emptied in the sink. By quick work, the trio grabbed a bottle and with it as evidence, arrested the manager and three others. QUITS COPS FOR STAGE Patrolman Sylvest Resigns to Do ‘Strong Man’ Act. The stage holds more attraction than being a policeman for Patrolman George H. Sylvest. The resignation of Sylvest, who quit the force to do a “strong man” act on a vaudeville circuit, was accepted Tuesday by the board of safety. Motorcycleman Noah Romine, assigned to the park department, resigned from the force, lie will continue to patrol parks under special police power. Patrolman George B. Paxton was found not guilty of neglect of duty. CHASES BURGLAR AWAY Man Seen Attempting to Enter Store Escapes in Park. A burglary was frustrated Tuesday night by C. R. Wertz, 2717 Shelby St., who saw two men from the window of his home, attempting to break into the rear door of the F. O. Beck drug store, 2602 Shelby St. Wertz, on his motorcycle pursued the fleeing figures through the winding paths of Garfield park. The men escaped.
