* RECORD CROWD AT TURKEY RUN PARKJULY 3-4 Conservation Department Checks Up Attendance; Botany Students Guests, All attendance records at State parks were broken at Turkey Run July 3-4, according to check made by the State conservation department. Besides the thousands of pleas-ure-seekers, nature students are making the place their headquarters, with the announcement that guides and lecture services have ben inaugurated. Twenty-four University of Chicago botany students visited the park this week, under direction of Dr. O. D. Frank and W. E. Cunningham. More than 8,000 paid admission to the park on July 3 and 6,000 on July 4; Meals were served for 1,200, while scores brought their own picnic baskets. The nature museum in the cabin on Sunset Point was vis- • ited by 2,300. Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Esten, Pendleton, in charge of the free guide & service, have labeled trees and f plants along the various park trails. Among those especially interesting are yew trees, which are found nowhere else in the State. Sixty-eight species of birds have been identified at the park, including the woodcock, bald eagle, cerulian warbler, oven bird and water thrush. Lectures on the wild life of the place are given in the hotel lobby Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday evenings. FARM BUREAU PICNIC SEASON HAS ARRIVED Speeches, Sporting Events, and Lots of Food Provided. This is the season of picnics for county and township Farm Bureaus, and all over the state farm men and women are putting aside work for a day to enjoy a brief outing and hear from speakers the things the Farm Bureau hopes to accomplish. At many of these outings elaborate programs have been prepared, and, of course, food supplies are ample, prepared in the way that only farm folks can prepare them. The programs generally are given ever to various athletic and sporting events, and band concerts. At some of the picnics boys’ and girls' club work exhibits have attracted much attention.

On the west there are two French doors opening from the porch into the living room, with the fireplace filling the space between them. On the south, where a porte-cochre extends above the graveled driveway, there Is a door that opens into a side-center hall separating the living room from the dining room. At the back of the house is a south door opening into the wing occupied by the entrance hall, while on the north another door leads from that side of the house directly into the cross-hallway, the shoftest way of reaching the basement. Windows In the living room are on the north and south, while the dining room has both east and south windows. MATERIAL IS SELLING FAST Business continues good in the building material line for the F. J. Schuster Coal Company, Inc., 902 E. Troy Ave., dealers in coal and builders’ supplies. Contractors are placing heavy orders for the many lines of building products handled by the company, according to C. W. Braughton, president. “We are enjoying a good business and getting our share of the building supply business,” he said. “Many homes and buildings are being roofed with our Barrett roofing supplies. The general public has come to recognize the highgrade values to be secured in this line of roofing materials. Science has demonstrated in Barrett roofing the value of embodying weather-re-sisting materials in it. “We are prepared to deliver various kinds of cement blocks, plain or rock-faced, cement, lime, plaster, sewer pipe, paints, and various other things used in construction work. “We are well-stocked with coal at this time, in fact, our big silos are filled to the top. This is the logical time of the year to lay in coal because we can give better service in delivery than is possible for any firm during the rush periods of the first cold snap next fall.”
