Judge Baltzell announced he would try Terre Haute defendants there Oct. 3; Evansville defendants there Oct. 10, and New Albany defendants there Oct. 17. URGES SANE FOURTH Law Forbids Shooting of Fireworks Before Monday. Police Chief Claude F. Johnson today ordered police to enforce more strictly the board of safety fire-works regulations. It is lawful to set off fire crackers or fireworks only on July 4, and then only on the person’s own premises, the order pointed out. It is unlawful to set off fireworks on the street or in any public place. Permits are required for large displays. Johnson also pointed out that a city ordinance prevents the sale of fireworks until July 1. A bulletin by Fire Prevention Chief Horace W. Carey asked a “safe and sane” Fourth of July celebration, one without needless “sacrifice of life.” It warned against patronizing fireworks booths along country roads, which are not under city supervision.
Road Revolts One county road “blew up” in revolt against the heat today. Luther E. Tex, county road superintendent received calls from persons living on Keystone Ave., between Allisonville Rd., and Seventy-Sixth St., who said the road surface had swollen and broken in two places. Repair gangs were sent fHfh'.e&iately. Tex said entire sections of the roadway will have to be rebuilt.

Taxi Ticks $25 While Man Waits to Plead The taxi driver who rushed Dan Meyers from Shelbern, Ind., to Federal Court in Indianapolis today made $25 by getting Meyers here one minute late. / At noon, Meyers arose in the rear of Robert C. Baltzell’s court room and respectfully asked permission to plead not guilty to a liquor violation charge. His case had been called at 9a. m. He had gotten there a minute later. Meyers explained that the taxi was waiting outside the building with the meter clicking merrily away during three hours he was in the courtroom, that it had registered $25 against him and he would respectfully request that he be arraigned so he could go out and cut down expenses. Baltzell entered his plea and Meyers rushed out.
