Bn United Press TRURO, Mass., June 23.—The Clyde line freighter Ozark rammed and sunk the steam trawler Surge in a dense fog about five miles off Truro tmday. Nineteen members of the Surge’s crew were rescued by the Ozark. Three seamen were reported missing. HEATING PLANTS ARE IMPORTANT
The health and comfort of the family are paramount issues with every citizen and call for a careful consideration of the kind of heating system used in the home, according to Bert Brockman, local manager of the Sunbeam Heating Company, 40 S. Capitol Ave. That company is a direct factory retail branch of the Fox Furnace Company, Elyria, 0., largest makers of heating equipment in the world, Brockman declared. “We are making special offers at this time to install a Sunbeam heating system with the first payment due Sept. 1, and also are offering free fprnace inspection to all furnace owners,” said Brockman. “This is the time for the careful houseowner to see that his furnace or heating system is in the proper condition. All soot should be removed before it has had a chance to affect the metal. We have * corps of experienced mechanics who will make the proper investigation of any furnace. “The health of a family Is peopardized by any heating system that fails to provide the proper warmth in the home. That sort of a condition means colds among the members of the family. Warm air in constant circulation is the principle upon which Sunbeam furnaces are constructed. Proper ventilation is obtainable only by a circulation of air, and any one knows the hygenic value of ventilation. “We lay stress upon the value of proper furnace instllation. An improperly installed furnace cannot give efficient service. Our men are trained along Sunbeam installation lines. Our gravity system of supplying air enables our furnace to supply a greater change of air in the combustion chamber and produce a better heat in the home.” Perfects Air-Cooled Motor CINCINNATI, 0.. June 23.--Al-fred Schmitker, automotive inventor, says he has completed work on an air-cooled motor weighing only 200 pounds and having only 38 major parts. He worked nine years perfecting the motor.

An unusually attractive and comfortable home has been completed recently at 1231 Bosart Ave., by Holloway Building Company, 805 Lemcke Bldg, under direction of Everette J. Holloway. The house is the colonial bungalow type, modified by a number of interesting details which add much to its desirability as a home. The house is a frame one-story building on a lot with a forty-four foot frontage and a depth of 130 feet. The white exterior is broken by the various colors of the asphalt fire-safe shingle roof and by the green shutters in front. Ornamental green flower boxes have also been constructed beneath the front window. Porch Attractive Attention has been given to the front porch to break the usual monotonous bungalow lines by c -- tending the cement porch approximately four feet to the south side, giving the front exterior a wider effect, and also affording splendid entrance from the side driveway. The living room Is large, airy and well-lighted, extending eastward to the dining room, with a plastered arched opening between. The walls are papered in soft neutral-toned design. The floors are of hardwood. The woodwork is of gum, finished in brown mahogany. Convenient Kitehen From the dining room a doorway extends back to the kitehen. finished in greens, the side walls of of-fice-green and the wood darker toned enamel. A large built-in cabinet with a sink below a low window occupies the south wall. An arched opening extends eastward to a cozy breakfast room, also fin-

PRAISE USE OF CINDERJjLOOKS Scientific tests made on Straub cinder blocks, manufactured by a patented process at the Straub Cinder Block Company, W. TwentySecond St., and Belt Railroad, have shown unusually remarkable results. Tests made of the various properties of these cinder blocks have convinced an army of contractors and houseowners of the advisability of the use of them in modern construction work, according to E. W. Klatte. local manager of the company. Clay brick used in walls or piers contribute twenty-five per cent of its unit strength, while Straub cinder block when used in walls or piers contribute sixty-six per cent of its unit strength, Klatte pointed out. “Tests made by the Underwriters’ flaboratories of the National Board of Fire Underwriters on cinder block walls and the U. S. Bureau of Standards on clay brick walls, show the clay brick walls bulge or deflect 528 per cent more than cinder block walls,” Klatte asserted. An eight by eight foot Straub cinder block wall laid horizontally after its construction, supported the weight of seven men and several cinder blocks before rupture, he declared. In this test the blocks were joined by “buttered edges” only, he added.
