SEEK DIVORCES JN PARIS COURT Mrs. Gifford A. Cochran Sues Millionaire Husband. &u T nitrd Press PARIS, June 22.—Mrs. Mabel H. Taylor Cochran ancC Mrs. Phyllis Duganne Parker, both of New York, filed suits for divorce today. Mrs. Cochran was married in Philadelphia, in Feb., 1906. Mrs. Parker was married in New York in Jan., 1919. A marriage which stirred the world of fashion in the first decade of the present century will be dissolved if Mrs. Cochran obtains the divorce. Gifford A. Cochran, who had millions from the sale of carpets and w r ho used some of them to establish one of the outstanding racing stables in the United States, was among America’s richest millionaires in 1906. PICK MARKET MASTER William Cook Appointed to Succeed Garrett. William T. Cook, 58. of 5610 College Ave., a city market standholder, been named city marketmaster, Earl Garrett, who resigned, following filing of bribery charges in Criminal Court. Garrett’s resignation, accepted by the board of safety last Friday, was made public Tuesday by O. D. Haskett, board president, after misconduct. Haskett's announcement w'as the first indication of the special secret meeting. Cook has been chairman of the Standholders’ Association for four years. He told Safety Board Member Joint A. George that he “voted for the man,” although he w r as listed as a Republican in the last election. Haskett instructed Cook to operate the market in a “clean, honest and w'holesome manner.” The post pays $2,000 annually. Cook was ordered to give up his stand. RETURN 46 TRUE BILLS Federal Grand Jury Indicts 55; Two Corporations. Forty-five indictments were returned to Federal Judge Robert C. Baltzell by the grand jury Tuesday. The jury assembled Monday and this was the first partial report. United States district attorney said fifty-five person and two state corporations were involved, but I names cannot be made public until J &wsts are made.
