LOVE THRICE I FINDS WAY IN ENGLAND'S 400 Parental Disapproval for Naught—Rosy Glow Over Season. 8v United Prcs LONDON, June 17.—Three romances, in each of which strong parental disapproval was overcome by ruse or by varying degrees of open defiance, have cast a rosy glow over the present London social season. Three romances may not be many in a city of 7,500,000; but these were ins mart society, and they were brought off by the parties most directly concerned despite all sorts of <lifficulties. I First, there was that of Miss Mary Ashley, One of the wealthiest heiresses in Great Britain, and Captain Alexander Cunningham Reid, M. P. This began when Captain Reid was secretary, a year ago, to Miss Ashley’s father, Colonel Wilifred Ashley, then minister of transiJort. she stayed until after the Marchioness announced the engagement. Now they, too, are married. Viscount and Daphene The third romance is that of Viccount Weymouth, son and heir of the Marquess of Bath, and the Honorable Daphene Vivian, daughter of Lord Vivian. The rumor .of this engagement first was afloat a year ago, but it was denied, the Viscount went ranching in the west. He came back from the United States a couple of months ago, and the rumor was published again. Both the Marquess of Bath and Lord Vivian officially denied it. Now the formal announcement of the engagement is made, and they are to be married soon. First Paved Street Soon JACKSON, Mo„ June 17.—1n 1814 a settlement here was incorporated into a town.
