ton formally opened Thursday by Vice President Charles G. Dawes, gives Hoosierdom the deepest harbor on the Great Lakes, the first private harbor to be built on Lake Michigan In twenty years and one of only three such harbors on the lakes, the others being at Gary and at Calcite, Mich. The Buffington harbor was opened with impressive ceremonies when the official vice presidential salute of nineteen guns blazed over the lake as Vice President Dawes stepped from a specially chartered passenger steamer onto the dock to be greeted by the East Chicago High School band playing partiotic airs. The harbor improvement has the largest and heaviest boat-unloading bridge in the Calumet district, a million-ton storage yard, a conveyor nearly a mile long that carries material from dock to a cement plant at the rate of six tons per minute, and self-unloading boats that discharge large cargoes at a ton a second. 15 to Graduate Sunday Fifteen students will be graduated from St. Francis de Sales School Sunday evening in the church hall. They are Robert Cissell, Edward Fowley, Frank Stites, Joseph Torline, Carl Wiegand, Leo Wolf, Hilbert Yeager, Mary Cosgrove, Francis
