CLIFTY FALLS, i ALONG RIVER, i RESTFUL SPOT State Park Near Madison Regarded as One of Prettiest in State. Down near Madison is to be found one of Indiana’s prettiest State parks, known as Clifty Falls. Here one finds the Ohio River valley at its finest. The view of the valley from the neadlands of the park is a great sweeping panorama with the Kentucky and Indiana hills rising on either side from the broad second bottoms. In either direction the river disappears beyond great bends. * Cliffty Falls State park includes 600 acres of wild, lugged and majestic landscape. Foot trails lead to all points of interest, winding through the bottom of a great hollow and along the side of precipitous cliffs, giving ready access to the wooded ravines and twenty waterfalls, leading eventually to the park’s feature, Clifty Falls, where Clifty Creek drops 70 feet from a stone ledge. Clifty Inn on Crest The park hotel, Clifty Inn, is located on the crest of a steep slope, 400 feet above the river. Immediately below, on the east, is Madison. ...Almost at one's very feet is the Ohio River itself and on the west is Clifty Hollow r , while in the distance are the heights upon which Hanover College is situated. The front porch of Clifty Inn commands what is undoubtedly one of the most magnificent views in the whole country. Clifty Inn is representative of the State park hotels, which are planned and built to furnish simple, wholesome and economic service. It is characterized by comfortable beds, immaculate housekeeping, well-cooked food and is in no sense a luxurious resort. Camping Spots Provided in the public service area at the north end of the park 4 ample parking space, shelter house and refreshment stand.
