AWARD HOE WORK Fall Creek Span to Be Rej paired. E. F. Smith Company was awarded the contract to repair College Ave. bridge which sunk into Fall Creek in March, today -by the board of works. The contract was awarded to the Smith firm on an alternative bid for $64,783 on recommendation of City Engineer Frank C. Lingenfelter. The Smith Company was low bidder on the city plan and only bidder on the alternative plan calling for the repair of the pier south of the one which sunk. Two piers will be repaired and built ten feet deeper with an eight*-een-foot base of piling to withstand' the washing of the stream, Lingenfelter said. About five months will be required to complete the work, which was ordered begun at once.
