TWO INJURED IN THREE CRASHES Woman and Girl Hurt — Negro Nabbed for Speed. Mrs. Claria Hagerhorst, 65, of 1342 Barth Ave., received a fractured leg and cuts about the head when struck by an auto at Ft. Wayne Ave. and Ogden St., late Thursday. Witnesses told police that she stepped before an auto driven by Mrs. Chauncey Smith, 2029 College Ave. Melvee Young, 5, Negro, 1225 Massachusetts Ave., was bruised by an auto driven by Ray Gist, 19, of 2022 Hillside Ave., near her home. Forrest Jones, 34, Negro, of 223 W. Fourteenth St., was charged with reckless driving and speeding after his auto struck a car stopped at a traffic sign at Capitol Ave. and Fall Creek, driven by Mrs. Ruth Snodgrass, 37 W. Plans for amateur automobile races are being discussed today by the Society of Automotive Engineers convention here. Delegates asserted that the motorists’ desire for more speed led to the proposal that swifter automobiles be produced and races arranged in which amateur pleasure car drivers may compete.
