1.0. TO HONOR LATE PRESIDENT \ Classes to Suspend in Dr. Swain’s Memory. Bn Times Special BLOOMINGT&N, Ind., Mny 20. Classes will be suspended at Indiana University from 1 to 3 o'clock Monday aften-nodp during the funeral time at Pendleton, Ind., for Dr. Joseph Swain, (19, president of the University from 1893 to 1902. Dr. Swain died yesterday at his home in Wallingford, Pa*." President William Lowe Bryan, Secretary John W. Cravens, Librarian W. <A. Alexander, and U. H. Smith will represent the university also is planning a. memorial service. Dr. Swain's retired as active president, in 1921, of Swarthopore College, where he went upon leaving Indiana University. He was president emeritus of Swarthmore. Dr. Swain an Indiajia graduate also received degrees at Wabash, Lafayette, University of Pennsylvania and swarthmore. He left the Indiana faculty in I£9H to become vice president of Defend Stanford, but was recalled to Indiana as president. Dr. Swain married Miss Francis Morgan, Knightstown, Ind., Sept. 22, 1885.
