NO WIVES FOR FLIERS UNDER 30 New Regulation Affects Italy’s Military Aviators. . ✓ . Bn Vnited Press ROME, May 20.—N0 Italian airman, whether he be officer, pilot or mechanic, may marry before the age of thirty. ' This regulation, though based on serious and practical considerations, has caused a ripple among the young aviators, who find themselves bound by the same rules as the priesthood. They are in fact, until they reach the age of 30, turned into a kind of priestly caste. Reasons for Law The new law imposing this obligatory celibacy is based on the presumption that a man can not, if he has a wife and family, give of hft best in a services which, above all things, requires Haring and singlemindedness. The report introducing the new measure states that “the obligations and duties deriving from the possession of a family exercise a notable influence on the serenity of spirit of persons attached to the air force.” the same principle behind the new law as that which enjoins obligatory celibacy on the Catholic priesthood, whereby, according to the belief of the church, a man can not at the same time serve his sacred mission and his family. The Italian aviation authorities believe that pilots must be young men and allow them to marry after the age of 30, on the supposition, that in the majority of cases, by that time, they will gef into the services. McCormick, 67-year-old board chairman of the International Harvester Company, marry Alice Hoit, his former secretary, in Dublin, New Hampshire, that they were able to board the S. S. Fortune of Woman Built on Bootees It was a tiny pair of knitted silk bootees, made for her infant granddaughter, that started Mrs. Grace Dolen, farmwoman, of Bargersville, on the road to fame and fortune. That's the story told in the current issue of American Magazine about her. A pair of silk bootees knitted for her granddaughter attracted the owner of a small gift shop to Mrs. Dolen. A dozen pairs, hastily knitted, placed in the window to attract Christmas shoppers, six years ago started a business that today is estimated to be worth more than $20,000 per year and employs more than 200 of Mrs. Dolen's neighbor women. A buyer for an Indianapolis store really started Mrs. Dolen on the road to fortune, for she happened to be in the community when those first bootees went on display in the small shop and she was so attracted to them that she Immediately ordered a large number for her store. Now the business thinks nothing of an order for a thousand dozen pairs such as was received the other day. Pigeons in search of gravel are damaging the masonry of some of London's public buildings.
