MIRRORS REFLECT SUICIDES Increase of Unusual Cases in England Attract Attention. Bu United Press LONDON, May 13.—“ Mirror suicides” are the latest attraction to those who take their own lives here. Numerous cases of suicides have been found here recently where the act has been deliberately staged before a mirror. In each case a verdict of suicide while of unsound mind has been entered. Science Interested Several noted pathologists and psycharatrlsts have recently devoted soma time to a study of the apparent complex which causes suicides to stand before a mirror while taking their lives. One psychiatrist has declared that the cause is a “complex of death,” where the subject has so long thought of death that he is anxious to view for the last time someone in the agonies of dying. Woman’s Case Novel In one case recently a young woman, while standing in front of a mirror, had inflicted several wounds with a razor at various vital points in her body before completely encircling her throat with the razor. The case is declared to be the most unique suicide ever committed before a mirror. Witnesses declared at the inquest that from the position of the body the young woman had actually watched herself die almost until the time life expired. Numerous cases have been discovered lately where the suicide has shot himself while looking in a mirror.
